I have a completely stock 70 Sport Satellite that I thought would look pretty cool with an air grabber hood on it. It's a numbers matching 383 2-brl engine with AC. MY question is would an air grabber hood fit and would there be clearance for everything underneath with my stock single snorkel air cleaner, and AC, etc? I realize the "fresh air" wont be effective, I would be doing this for more of a "coolness" factor...:) What all would I need, hood, flapper, solonoid, air lines, switch? Not sure what all is needed to make it work. Obviously wont need the air cleaner stuff....thanks!

It will bolt right on, the airbox/oval will hit the A/C compressor, trimming required.

This comment is uncalled for. The guy wants to personalize his car and make it look a little cooler - that's why. If we all had your attitude hot rods, modifieds and innovative automotive engineering in general would never happen. It's never a "waste" when someone wants to make a car their own. The pettiness and narrow-mindedness on this forum amazes me sometimes.

It will look great and i did it to my Sport Satellite 20 plus years ago. That car is too stock and perfect to do it to though, in my opinion.

It's just a bolt on hood man! The original will most definitely be saved and unmodified. And how is it a waste if they are repopping them? It's my money to spend as I please. It's not like I am stealing an original away from a car that may need one someday. Your GTX that you are selling has a ton of mods. I would never think of doing that to my car but I can respect another guys car because it was made to suit themselves. Everyone's different...:) anyways...back to my question...

Why would anyone put headers on a stock car...why would anyone convert to electronic ignition..why would anyone paint a car a different color....ETC...what a real DUMB question...

The hood fits no problem but it will hit the a/c compressor. Also if your going for the looks factor you should go with a 4 barrel and the correct air cleaner. Gonna look funny with hood open and seeing a snorkle air cleaner on a air grabber hood. You can trim up the air box to clear the compressor, maybe even make a new lower aircleaner base that fits your 2 barrel an top it off with the correct top. There's nothing wrong with adding an air grabber hood but seems a waste if it isn't installed with all of it looking correct.

Thanks all, if the hood is going to hit the a/c compressor then I am going to scrap this whole idea. I want to keep the AC, it still works and blows cold. Or did you mean that the air box mounted on the underside of the hood would hit? Hmmmm...

I have always wanted to ad one to my car.Its the coolest option I have seen.My car is just to Stock to make the change.Air cars could not get an air grabber. Not to say you cant do it.Go for it.From what I have read over the years(using the correct oval base plate and air cleaner)you just have to notch it a LITTLE.But I agree,if you do it,change the baseplate and air cleaner, dont use the snorkel one.

The air grabber air box will hit the compressor. It can be notched to clear your compressor.
