I replaced the backup switch on my 4speed Cuda.
Reverse light on the dash only engages if I push the shifter in reverse a little more.
Is this just a matter of adjusting the linkage rod?

was that why you replaced it? I would adj the rev rod correctly & see if that takes care of it.

Replaced because it was leaking, but it had the same problem before.

Nope. Tight up and a paper gasket.
My original switch did not have this issue, but it broke, then I got MP replacement, and after 10years it leaked, now I got another MP replacement.

Disconnect the shifter rod and place the Reverse lever all the way into gear by hand, if the switch closes the shifter adjustmrent is incorrect.

Finally got under and did this. Light does not come on in natural reverse position. Needs a little more, like .02.
My only thought is to get NOS switch. I know that the original switch had no problems, only these Mopar replacements. I will also check my other transmissions.
Question. Anyway to test whether a switch leaks?
