I Have a duster that had 2800lb super stocks and I just put some launchers on, my question, is there any other changes that need to be made? i.e. pressures, shocks, launch rpm. The car ran low 6.30's until the springs gave up.

You should be using a Rancho (which most were using) or other adjustable shock with the Launcher springs.

I have a set I'm waiting to try.

Talk to Greg at tri City or whoever you bought them from they have lots of customers who use there springs, I'm sure they get feed back from them

I am putting my Launchers on today. He is out of town so he will not answer the phone. He said you will have to add a bunch of rebound dampening to your shocks because the car will rise or separate a lot more. Try it with the rear clamps on and if everythg if ok you can try to remove the rear clamps. He said not all cars can run without the rear clamp. I am getting rid of the caltracs.

You can see on Sloan's old car here that the rear clamps are removed.

When I ran the Luneaks one thing that was key was the front shocks had to stiiffened a bit, a 90/10 shock will rise to fast and unload the tires, may need to stiffen up the front.

I've been thinking about doing something with the south of the border SS springs.Tri-City or the ladder bar deal.

Did you run them without rear clamps and 90/10 shocks? Thanks Dennis

I will let you know. For one thing, the caltracs stopped my car from doing big wheelies and I did not like that. Plus I never liked all the noise and complexity.

Greg did not claim that the Launchers will pick you up. He said they will work just as good as caltracs.

But I feel if they work like a SS Spring then my car will get up on the back tire and that is what I want. I want a nice wheelie and that has to give you a good 60 ft and ET (up to a point).

for those of you that dont know the guy that makes the launchers at tri city competition is greg luneack from vista, california he is currently at indy at the us nationals. he custom makes every set for your car they are very stock appearing. he runs a stock eliminater duster and a 64 plymouth, also races super stock. if you want to see how well they look on a stocker, now remember stockers have to run stock appearing suspension and a 9 inch tire. go to autoimagery.com and on the left side type in greg luneack and see some of the pics of his duster and his 64 plymouth. after seeing them you wont need cal tracs any longer. on my e 72 cuda he makes the rear segment of the springs a little longer, they come with an aluminum front bushing and are clamped and ready to go have ran 10.90s with a 1.45 60ft sorry for being so long

Sounds like a sales pitch to me.

That is not saying much. My car with caltracs did consistent 1.45 60 foots at Fontana test and tune with a best ET of 11.14 , Then it did 1.49 60 foots at woodburn in July but ran 11.08 all with caltracs. So with cooler weather at Woodburn the caltracs probably would have done 1.44 60 ft.

I do think the launchers could do just as good. That is why I am installing them today. But they are heavier. And you know how I feel about my weight!

What's the contact number for Greg?

Years back they had a shop in Michigan, too, that is where Greg is from.

Here is the weight difference. You have to include the shock plate to make the comparasin fair.

Launcher spring with lower shock plate 48 pounds. That is on my bathroom scale. He told me on the phone they were 53 pounds. But I used the same scale to weigh everything.

Caltrac split mono spring, linkage, pivot and lower shock plate is 35 pounds.

So there is a 13 pound diff and I added 26 pounds to my car! OMG

While it sounds like each car will probably be a custom application, what's the ballpark pricing for a pair of Tri-city launchers?
