Anonymous Unregistered A	Tell ya a true story about distilled water. When I was at Miramar (San Diego) I ran around with a guy who was becoming (and now is) an engineer. He was one of these guys who was difficult to convince the engineers didn't do everything right. Had a 70 Chev 3/4T 4x4, bought new. We'd finally got him to put a 350hp cam in the thing after the factory cam went flat, but he refused to use an all steel cam drive. So around 74 just before I got out of the Navy, we had it torn down--to replace the phenolic cam sprocket. He'd used 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water (San Diego water is horrid with minerals) and the INSIDE OF THE WATER PASSAGES LOOKED ABSOLUTELY LIKE NEW

At Schucks I see the 50/50 going for about 75% of the cost of 100% gallon for gallon. Then I see they are selling "Mineral Water" (they mean demineralized water, but don't seem to notice the difference when making their sign ) for $2.49 a gallon. (gulp). The local grocery store has distilled for 79 cents.

So that is what mineral water is (I never paid any attention to it) and if distilled is more pure & it's cheaper and the car (& me) will live longer from using distilled I dont see any downsides to it unless I'm missing something. live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

Distilled water is De-mineralized, the distallation process leaves the minerals in the orginal vessel. Schucks was selling "de-mineralized water" (good) but their little in-store sign called it "Mineral Water". My post wasn't clear.

I buy two gallons of coolant and two gallons of their water and am good to go. Don't know if it helps but it sure can't hurt. FWIW two years ago I put a new alum rad in my sig car and filled it with the above. It still looks 100% clean/new inside.
