That's because most are using spray can crap,.....if you use a a quality clear like Dupont's Chroma Preimer CC,......if the gloss bothers you, you can tone it down with flattening agent up to 50% max, for a transparent no sheen natural look over cast, "raw" steel looking parts,.....I generally prefere to put CC clear over a part finished in a "natural" paint finish, even quality clear over raw aluminum, and raw steel, will eventualy star rusting/corrodeing, plus the clear coat, flattened or not, makes cleaning/wiping down componets a lot easiier/quicker

I wouldn't, I gone that route, as well as the plasti-cote, the Eastwood Nylaic,.....the Dupont Chroma Preimer CC, is about the only thing that holds up,...
