How do I go about finding the right one? I just replaced the ballast resistor thinking it would help my problem and it didnt
6 volts seems awfully low. Is this a double or single resistor. I think you should be seeing closer to 9 volts. Measure the resistance with a meter and compare it to a new one. Try using one with a lower resistance.
Hows the coil? Also, it is possible the valves are too tight. Adjustable rockers will allow you to set the pre load properly. Lifters should bleed down once the car sits for awhile.
The proper way to adjust them is to turn the engine in the direction of rotation. Starting with number 1, turn the engine until the exhaust valve just starts to open. Adjust the intake valve by spinning the pushrod between your fingers and tightening the adjuster until you feel it dragging. Turn the adjuster another 1/2-1 full turn. Turn the engine some more until the intake valve is almost closed. Adjust the exhaust valve the same way. Repeat for the other cylinders.
The only way to adjust the non-adjustable rockers is with shims, longer/shorter push rods, or adjustable push rods.

See if you can borrow a coil that doesn't use the resistor, then make a jumper to bypass the resistor. That way you can still go back easily.
You are looking for a coil that can run on all 12 volts.
I want my fair share

You should have 9 volts at the coil when the car is running at 13.8v [13.8 volts is the real number not 12]. If you have 6 volts the ballast resistor has too much resistance. If the compression test is ok it's electrical Bad control boxes [esp orange boxes]and alternators make engines run bad too Put the shotgun away
