use the 3M yellow weathertrip adhesive as it dries hard in seconds and have a helper to aid w positioning as it's almost like contact cement, when it touches that's pretty much where it is at & you have 1 or 2 seconds to get it right. EDIT have him inside the trunk running a glue line on the bottom side of the weatherstripping while you on the outside of the trunk position/lay in place the weatherstrip then when done shut the trunk & let it setup overnight

I used the 3M adhesive. Had a mess of clothes pins on hand, and pinned the weatherstrip in place as I went. After 10 or 15 minutes I removed the clothes pins and shut the trunk. Stayed in place very well.

Like I said i did this once already and it turned out pretty bad, I have been reading around and some people say to start in the middle of the top and the instructions say "Place cement in the lower right corner where lip starts and proceed slowly toward back glass" if you do this according to there instructions without stretching the gasket you will end up with a 1 to 1 1/2" gap?? any help thanks

I'm missing something here. I just started at a random point & glued it down & worked my way around & when I got back to my starting point I just trimmed the extra several inches off & with the ends touching, glued it in place. There was nothing to stretch.

I've been trying to remember that for the last hour as I figured that would help & I'm thinking soffseal(sp) but I'm not sure.

I bought metro and the second one is just as long as the first and you have to pull and stretch to make it work?? seems if the cheapos would just give an extra few inches this would not occur.

that is strange & we're still missing something as it is not like an O ring that needs to be stretched over something, it just glued down easily & several minutes later I shut the trunk for the night & the next day it was indented slightly on top showing a perfect seal.

I used the black 3M. Have used it on '69 Dart and '68 B'cuda 'vert. I started top center below the rear glass, and worked around one side, then did the other. Seam was at the bottom next to the latch. I had a few inches left over on both jobs to cut off.
