Am I the only one who mounted my rad in front of the core support?

Maybe

Do you have any pics of that area? How big a radiator? What did you have to cut or remove to get it in there?

thanks

I suspected as much, given the location of the latch mechanism!

wouldn't it be possible to keep the steel hood and use pins or other hold-down mechanism?

Ok......
got my fan today .
Ive taken all the extra plastic off it i can to gain clearance.

It does fit , but theres maybe 1/4" from the fan motor to the 4 water pump pulley bolt heads. It fits nice and flush to the rad though .

Im moving it forward.

SO-- how did you guys fasten the fan to the rad , and the rad to the body (after cutting ) ?

That 1/4" clearance is with your radiator in the stock position (no cutting of the core support)? hmmm won't work so good with a 3/8" motor plate...

Wonder what it would cost to have 3/8" milled off my WP housing to compensate for it?

I'd definitely like to see pics though

Here's where I'm at as of tonight---

I cut some of the rad support out and set the rad/fan in there . Now Ive got around 3/4" clearance - looks pretty good in there now

Im going to start making brackets tomorrow night , should have it all done some time Thursday - I will definitely post some pics .

I am also thinking of using that fan and would like to see pics, but it sounds like you cannot leave the radiator in the stock position?

You "could" ...

but you would have to either
1. run an electric pump
2. use some shallow head bolts for the pulley (kinda like converter bolts) ?

it would still be close ....

I moved mine forward and also fitted a larger 31" rad at the same time.

You have to trim the top edge and the sides to let the rad into the panel so that the rad sits tight to the upright of the front panel.
Here's a pic of one that's done

ok heres a few questions on the topic that i didnt see before.

1. All of this appears to be done with big block abody's and the mods to make it fit seem to be minimal. Based off this, there shouldnt be any clearance issues with a SMALL-block abody?

2. As to the post of the battery dying out due to a high draw even with the denso alt, most of you don't seem to be having an issue with this. However, how many of you run your car on the street which is where these issues seem to take place at?

The reason for the second question is cause this car will see more of the street than it does the strip where as your cars seem to see more of the strip than the street?

Thanks ahead of time you guys
