Picked this truck up for$800.00 , a basket case of course. many options, tach, volt/vacum am/fm 8-track,but no ac.go figure! black with woodgrain. But what I like the most are the dog dish hub caps. It is nice to chat with some one who knows the trucks.

just so you know. you don't have to post a topic everytime you reply to someones thread. in the top right corner of the post is a "REPLY" button. go ahead and click that to reply to any thread that has started. don't take this the wrong way.

just don't want the mods to yell at ya.

after I went to all that trouble, I realized what I did wrong, esp when I looked and saw the reply location. Ric I would still like to know if anyone has any info on my truck, I have only found 1 in this set up. beautiful russet sunfire metallic.

russet sunfire metalic is an unusual color indeed. that is the only one that I have heard of.

Still looking for help on this one, not much infomation out there. It has all the options, not AC
looking to make it better. Still 440 swb trucks are the best.

that is a pretty nice truck. don't see many Adv SE stepsides, esp 440's.

as for production #'s they are hard to come by. i have been searching relentlessly for the years that are not known.

in 76, these #'s are known for 1/2's,
-121 D100 shortbeds
-70 D100 shortbed stepside.

i would assume the 77's to be similar maybe even higher. 76 & 77 were the high production big block trucks years.

Not meant as a put down, how are you guys verifying that your truck originally had a 440?

Back when I had my '76 Club Cab and was looking for big block parts, saw a LOT of trucks with the 400 that the owner/seller insisted was a 440 (hint, 440's didn't come with 2bbls!).

Just curious.

My Club Cab had been a 360/auto Adventurer, I dropped in a (440) cop car drivetrain from a '77 Gran Fury using a wrecked '77 400/auto truck for parts.

Well I don't know about the other guys, but my truck has the all important D in the vin, and to prove it, the entire vin is stamped on the frame ,pass side ,below the door,if they don't match, then it would raise questions. pics of my trucks, see attachment..thanks Ric

mine also. it's a code "D" VIN, has metal tag and GVW sticker which both have VIN on it. plus, it still has the original motor. i believe it has only had 2 previous owners. i've seen alot of trucks and most still have orig motors. they weren't "beat on" like cars were. mostly work horses, esp in the 70's. so you'll most likely find high mileage original engine trucks.
course, that all depends on how original it is when it's been purchased.

Well , for the most part, I will have to agree with you, most do have the org. eng ,as because , they were trucks, nobody knew what they had,nor cared , because it was ,just that ,a truck,no one cared , even with the LRE ,,I have seen many of those trucks destroyed. Many of my friends have destroyed them, and never looked back

Thanks for the info. Once in a blue moon I'll run across a big block truck, now I can tell if it had been a 440 or not.

Hi all.......
I have to agree with both of you guys (macho and 440se). I have 2 1976 d100 swb 440 trucks
(1 adv se with broadcast sheet, 1 custom 100), 1 78 ramcharger se w/440 loaded(orange and white), 1 d150 lwb factory 440, 1 b200 with factory 440 in it and 1 78 W150 Club Cab swb 400. I also have, but belongs to a friend 1 1977 d150 club cab factory 440.
Sam in Ca.
I guess I have a few of them besides my LRE Macho and Palomino's which are all 360's.....lol.

Thats funny, I never been to this part of moparts and I have owned a 77 macho 440 4x4 for about 9 months now. Its an all original 440 auto with a.c. matching numbers and solid. I've had it for sale for some time now and someone is purchasing it tomorrow. Using the money for my 69 bee or 70 runner. I do however like these trucks very much and will probably look again someday for another. Guess I should have held onto this one being its a 440 macho but the money will come in handy. I wasn't to keen on the 7 mpg deal either lol. Anyone know the production number of 77 macho's with the 440 option? If its super low, maybe I'll change my mind in selling tomorrow haha
