So, I broke the factory flex plate for the last time and sent my 8" convertor away to get freshened up since it's just as easy to pull the motor to replace the flex plate as do it from underneath. While I was at it, I had them re-vamp it for another 700-1000 rpm stall speed. It should be 4700-5000 now.
My best 60' ever before was a 1.61 that was worth a mid-11.30 IIRC. I've gone 11.28 several times now on 1.65-1.69 60's. Anyone want to venture a guess as what might be in it now? I'll find out for sure this Saturday morning.

DEPENDS on who did the work and IF the car needed more stall....

It COULD actually slow the car down and kill some of the speed.

Well, my heap is a little "torque challenged", and it makes really good MPH for what it is. We keep coming back to getting it to leave. It dead hooks, but is just a tad "lazy" on the hit. My builder has been urging me to put more convertor in it for 2 years now, and he's one of the most knowledgeable builders there is. It's a TCS convertor. I suspect I'll lose a MPH or 3, but that's no biggie. I've gone 11.28 at 119.6, so..

I learned the hard way (thats how I do it) , a good converter can REALLY make the car properly ET .

I had a TA that ran the same before and after they " freshened it" .

Most people have had great luck with them-not bashing them--i run their valve body.

I put in a used TCT converter and the car picked up 3 tenths in the 1/8 and 1/4 .

Best part Ive ever bought for my car.

I run a TCS 8" converter as well and have been using it for over 5yrs and the sprag just went on it.Sent it back to TCS and they rebuilt it and i'll be testing it tonight. My 60' are generally 1.47 and the car ran 11.0 @ 120.I bought a Ultimate 8" converter and tried it but it was way too tight and slowed my car to 1.65 60' and 11.99 @ 110. but it would only go to 4800 where the TCS would go to 5200.My Aspen with me in it is 3420 so it`s no light weight.

Well, results are in. I put 7 runs on it this weekend- lost first round on the tree yesterday and today. One late and one early. Right from the get-go it was spinning hard on the hit, and I had to sneak up on the launch by gradually trimming tire pressure, tweaking the front ride height, and finally moving the upper 4-link bar up one hole to finally get it to leave with no spin. Unfortunately, I had a couple other gremlins. One carb stud pulled out and was giving me a vacuum leak. It ran okay down track, but was a real bear to stage. Then I had battery issues, which was really annoying as it's a brand new battery. Lastly, I think my rear-end is going away.
The net result was 60' times in the low 1.60's, except for the first pass where it spun like crazy. Got it all the way down to 1.59 twice. Unfortunately, it wasn't real good at the big end.
In the past, it would pull 7100 (rev-limiter) as early as 11-1200 feet. It didn't get past 6900 on any pass, so I'm not sure what's going on there, and the incrementals are pretty comparable to some of my runs with the old convertor. The air was junk, but I'm not sure that's the issue. I have a funny hunch the howling rear-end is the issue. It's either that or the lack of juice just meant that the MSD wasn't giving as good of spark at max load. All in all, I'd say we made some progress, though.
It's my engine builder-Allyn Lee- who has been telling me to put more convertor in it.

I'm surprised your engine builder didn't tell you to put a "stick" in it instead!.

Those Bros were awesome to watch.

You are lucky!
