Too bad they don't make a good reproduction for a reasonable price.
Getting old just means you were smarter than some and luckier than others.

Thought about reproducing them in resin but looks to be a PITA. I'd have to find an NOS one to duplicate...

Here's the hood:
(It's dusty fingerprints on the front edge, btw.)
Scoop is a 2/3 sized MAS scoop that isn't mounted correctly, big centered hole cut in the hood etc.
A buddy ended up giving me a really clean, used Fiberglass Trends scoop that is pretty close to the originals in dimensions except that it was way too long. (Found it on a '56 Chevy in the salvage yard!)
I ended up cutting it shorter and will properly locate it along with the crossram holes in the hood and elimination of the underhood bracing but, for now, this will have to do!
For those who want to know the original dimensions:
They are roughly 24"w x 26"l.
Fiberglass Trends was 24" x 33"
MAS was 20" x 26" (way too narrow!)
Located about 3/8"-1/2" from the rear edge of the hood.
So, obviously this one is WAY off.
Thought these measurements were not correct, so I went out into the blizzard and to the garage where my aluminum nose 63 Dodge is at and did a few measurements. Here they are---and these are from an OEM Aluminum scoop---35"long---28" wide at the front---2 1/4 high in front---2 3/4 from the back edge of the hood to the center of the rear of the scoop. OEM scoops cost alot of bucks but I sell fiberglass replicas everyday for $230 plus $35 for shipping. I am Sled City Fiberglass, located in Grove City, Ohio.

Hmm, thought it seemed short too. Joey Cole that does the reproduction one's gave me those dimensions...

Did a few things that can't be seen. Got the driveshaft shortened, balanced and new u-joints installed.
Installed the transmission dipstick (Enos!, kew, kew)
Installed the battery cables.
Installed rear bumper and polished aluminum pan under license tag.

Kick panel re-dyed.
Hard to see in pics but the grain is perfect with almost zero scratches or scuffs. Original had a big tear.

Door panel:
Original re-dyed with chrome looking strip taken off another panel and put on this one. Door handles are all perfect originals. Four good arm rests were chosen, thoroughly clean and de-greased, and re-dyed as well.

Rear bumper: Original was rusted through and tore up. Traded an old 318 Streetmaster intake for this one. It's not perfect but it's a good, straight core to have rechromed when the body is out for paint.

I copied the dried up and crusty flaps that cover the control arm access holes in the inner fenders:

Marker light and housing in front valance. Lens isn't the greatest and was pieced back together but it'll do for now. Still need to get new fine thread phillips head screws to hold the lens in.

Valance was pretty banged up on this side with the flat portions that bolt up all wrinkled. Took some time to hammer and dolly and it still needs work!

More of valance.
I've spent more time and effort in getting this to look decent than any other part of the car! It's amazing what curbs and parking blocks do to sheetmetal!

Put the radiator in and used these nifty Gates Powergrip hose clamps that are heat shrink to fit!
I'm tired of scraping my knuckles on the old worm-gear or corbin style clamps!
