What did you use to strip the anodizing off the aluminum??? I've heard oven cleaner, but didn't work for me!

Use the good Easy Off. (NOT fume free)

It took about three applications and putting the grille in the hot sun for it to work really well.

Got the grille put in and a few other things done but haven't taken pics. It's starting to look like a car again!

Here's the hood:

(It's dusty fingerprints on the front edge, btw.)

Scoop is a 2/3 sized MAS scoop that isn't mounted correctly, big centered hole cut in the hood etc.

A buddy ended up giving me a really clean, used Fiberglass Trends scoop that is pretty close to the originals in dimensions except that it was way too long. (Found it on a '56 Chevy in the salvage yard!)

I ended up cutting it shorter and will properly locate it along with the crossram holes in the hood and elimination of the underhood bracing but, for now, this will have to do!

For those who want to know the original dimensions:

They are roughly 24"w x 26"l.

Fiberglass Trends was 24" x 33"

MAS was 20" x 26" (way too narrow!)

Located about 3/8"-1/2" from the rear edge of the hood.

So, obviously this one is WAY off.

Here is the FT scoop cut to size:

Anyone have the location of the holes in the hood for a crossram setup? (yes, I know, HemiEddy on Ebay sells a template... )

Another pic of frontend:

Keep in mind these are the original headlight rings that I painstakingly knocked all the dents out of, wet sanded and polished. I didn't really think they could be saved but they turned out decent.

The real fun came from taping off the blacked out areas of the grill and painting those!

'nother shot with hood down.

Not happy with the hood or the scoop so I'm going to refinish the light blue one in the background.

Seam along the edge of the hood/fender:

It turned out really straight and even on both sides despite the front fenders and hood all 3 being from different cars!

Latest of the engine:

I pulled the M/T valvecovers and did kind of a tribute to the Max Wedge. No, they're not correct, but I like the look a whole lot better than the M/T's and they were free!

I still have to finish off a few things in the engine compartment but it will probably be Spring before it roars.

Alternator will be replaced as it's just there for mockup.

Thanks!

It will be nice to get it drivable.

It'll never be truly completed as I have all kinds of motor plans but no $$$ to do them with!

It's funny because as I was installing the grille the other night I determined 1994 was the last time it was in the car!

The Dodge sat in the back of dad's barn for 15+ years while I played with other toys but I always knew I'd get back to it.
