Close up of engine.

Carb needs a spacer for the throttle linkage to properly clear the intake.

Finished off rebuilding the transmission today and installed a Cheetah pro-street full manual valvebody.

(bands weren't adjusted yet so no, I didn't forget to tighten the lock nut on the rear one....)

That's all for now.....

I need to pull the engine back out to clearance the front K--frame for the deep sump oil pan. After that I can put the engine and trans in and hopefully it'll be the final time.

The great part about this project is I'm doing 99.5% of the work myself! Having the seats re-covered is the only thing that I'm really farming out to someone else. That and the machine work on the engine.

Side shot of the car in the garage:

Some people have asked why it's going back together without the final coat of paint on it. Couple of reasons:

1. I think the flat black is sinister especially on this body style.

2. I want to fully shake down the car, check for oil leaks, and basically make sure everything is perfect before final paint.

3. Next winter I'll blow the car apart and do it up in gloss black. I still haven't given the undercarriage the attention it deserves so next winter will be the time for that as well.

Nice job, I like the idea of stainless fasteners. The car does have that look in black primer.

Pulled the motor back out to install the flexplate. Probably could've done it in the car but it was just a couple of bolts and less than an hour to pull it, install plate and put it back in. The B&M external balance flexplate is SFI approved and eliminates the need for weights on the convertor! I made sure and marked the convertors relations ship to the cutout so it bolted in perfectly.

Playing around with the mini starter mocking it up on the trans with the bolts to make sure everything is kosher. I hate suprises.

I removed the extra terminals and the whole thing went in smoothly save for a dowel pin on the passenger side of the motor that was too long. Shaved it down and everything went together smoothly!
