I looked at a very damaged 70 barracuda last weekend. It burned in a fire a few years ago and I think I read the fender tag as follows:

FY1 A93 C55 M21 Y14 END
FY1 L6X9 000 324 094154
E55 D21 BS23 HOE 125048

can anyone tell me what this is, I have found most of the numbers but none of the top line and I am not even sure they are exactly correct as the fender tag was a little melted from the fire

Post a photo of the tag. The combination of codes you listed does not exist.

photo will not help, it is a black melted mess. Can anyone pick it apart and make it work with what I have. As I read it it is close but can not make out some of the letters and numbers for example the L6X9.

I agree with Barry. That VIN can't go with those other #'s. Seems unlikely someone would fake a tag like that, but you never know. Even if it's melted, post a pic for Barry and that will help.

You should also check the VIN on the dash to see if it matches. Also door sticker if it has one.

Let us know what you come up with.

also, to read the tag better, you might try scuffing the burn/paint off the top with some very light sand paper. 400 grit or something that won't hurt the metal.

You could also try looking at the back side of the tag. Sometimes that helps.

all great ideas but the car is not mine and am trying to get the correct info before buying. I did not take any pictures of the car when I looked at it last weekend and don't want to redrive the four hundred miles at this point. Here is what I know for sure, the vin is BS23HOE, it is lemon twist, it has vinyl black interior with buckets and a center console, no power steering and no power brakes. I am told what I copied is not correct but no one says what is not correct. The car has sat for 20 years in a shed with the engine compartment totally burned out but the rest of the car is in very good shape. The owner shows he is the second owner but has no paper work or build sheet.

Did you look at a Barracuda or a 'Cuda?

bottom line is a 340 4-speed 'Cuda
top 2 lines are a 1 option Barracuda coupe

the two "trains" were never supposed to meet!

This story is getting fishier by the minute.

I have a problem that I have finally got straight with the DMV. My title has BH23BOE123764 for a vin but my car has vin of BS23HOE125048 and they are going to issue a new title for me. Here is my problem, I need a new fender tag and do not have a clue on how it should look. How would I tell how to lay it out.
BS23HOE125048
Lemon Twist
4 Speed
Black vinyl
Buckets
am radio
fog lights
no power or air
10-1/2" drum brakes
what else goes on the fender tag?

So......

What are you really up to here?

You appeantly have two cars "combined" right down to the fender tag?

If in fact you have not bought a burned car with VIN issues yet just run away from it now.

Are you still trying to fake a fender tag for the burn job you said you restored?

Hey Confused,

I was about to say, check the tag under the car
at the rear end just above the 3rd member on the
body.
I think some cars had a tag there.

So now I'm confused, Confused, is this a real
car and what's the story.

I love this -- CSI Moparts!
