I was just over on the FBBO [For B Bodies Only] Board and a question was raised about taking a C Body Motor and installing it in a 69 Plymouth Satellite. Seems there are some problems with the steering linkage interfering with the Oil Pan. Reply was to swap out the C Body Oil Pan for a B Body Oil Pan and also a different Oil Pick Up unit. It was recommended to use the #402 Pan and Pick Up. If this is the case then my Motor Install is now going to be pushed back as funds are really limited right now and the hassle of draining out the Oil...already primed the Motor. It just never ceases to amaze my how when working on these old vehicles just how much info is omitted when it comes to this type of thing. Just cannot seem to get ahead on this project. Any advise or guidance would be appreciated along with the correct part numbers to make this swap work. Car was a 318 so the 383 install is not going to be an issue other than what I have just mentioned.....Thanks in advance MOPARTS

Ther sump of the pan is slightly different and will hit the tie rod in some applications. Pick up is the same.

In my days I have swapped many c body 68-70 440's into 66-70 b bodies. With all new mounts I have never had a problem, actually the c body pan in most cases has a extra notch for the idler arm. The problem I have seen is the body of the pan is a little deeper and will allow the center link to rub the pan.
What year C body pan do you have? If it's a 68-70 with new or solid mount I would say you are good to go.

Pick up tube is different for a 402 pan than a c body pan. The 402 pick up has a step in it to clear the built in windage tray.

No, it came out of a 65 C body!

if the C body pan is a 187 pan it will work with out any problem. go to 440 source and look at the pans they show. see which one you have.

Don't think the 65 pan is a problem. If I remember correct it's the 73 and later.

yes, use the 402 pan. The 402 is not as deep in the rear of the pan as some of the other pans. We just did a swap in our shop, a 68 440 from a c-body into a 74 e-body and the pan rubs the centerlink.

Just found a re-pop one on the E-Bag. What about the pick up. Can I use the same one or do I need a different type....

Bump for ya since I'm wondering myself. I just put a 187 pan from a 66 c-body on my 383. It's going in my 66 Charger with a 69 up K-frame. I have a 402 pan but no pickup for it.
