I have a set of SSBC disk brake conversion calipers on my drum brake spindles now. They are essentially the calipers off of '65 Mustangs. Would they be superior to stock '70 Mopar calipers?

4 piston fixed calipers are a theoretically better design for performance. They distribute braking forces on the pad more evenly. But the 65 caliper isn't like a willwood caliper.

BTW the Shelby race cars in 65/66 upgraded thier front disk and calipers to 65/66 T-bird sized stuff. 65 mustangs weigh a lot less than a 70 Charger they are selling those conversion kits for.

The reason those companies sell the mustang 4 piston setup is they all got started making mustang disk conversions. They adapted their existing inventories to cover the Mopar market.

For as hooky as some of the parts in those conversions and as easy and stock looking a FMJ spindle conversion is, I don't understand why people buy it. And you can easily/cheaply upgrade the Mopar conversion to 11.75 rotors with no custom stuff.

Marketing, packaging (all the parts in one shiny kit) and creating a perception goes a long way.

Worse are those conversions that have GM master cylinders that stick way in the engine compartment.

Sketchy discription. I would think there would be more parts needed than in that picture.

Which stock '70 Mopar calipers? If you are talking about a-body calipers they are essentially the same.

Might be a worth while upgrade!

Wonder if they will fit 11 3/4 disks with 15 inch wheels...

Sounds great! Which # rotors fit?

Any other ideas for improving the Brake Power?
Want to remain with manual brakes any one who tried
another Master Cylinder for more breaking pressure = Breaking Power?

Thanx

Drilled all the way down to applications in the Summit catalog ...It appears these calipers apply to A-bodies...
