PS...Hope you took my advise on the stiffer step-up springs to bring the mains in quicker
That's been the plan but I'm not there doing it myself, I'm watching via remote

Those are nice heads but you wont use alot of their potential with only .525 lift..that is a cool motor, tho, i like the stock look. Great street motor, imho, should have lots of torque, around 480 lbs, hp should be good at around 450.

Ok, verdict is in! No carb changes, they ran it rock stock out of the box. Next test runs will be in the morning with a tweaked Holley 800, numbers should go up accordingly. Numbers are corrected to sea level, Dyno brand is a Land & Sea, dyno shop is a no BS non biased shop, they didn't build the engine so no "happy" numbers..... 498 HP 492 TQ That makes 72Demon416 guess the winner! His guess of 500HP 490 TQ was only off 2 each with a combined total of 4. Congrats! You win a free GY3 1971 Dodge Demon, just like the one the engine is going in, yet a we bit smaller

Excellent results are those the actual numbers at altitude or are they corrected? You did infer you were looking for tha ACTUAL numbers and that's what I (and I presume several of us here) guessed. I guessed low allowing for altitude for that reason. At what RPM's wre the peaks?? Awesome...bet you would have been over 500 with a set of SunroofGTX's plug wires!!

Cool...so what were the rpms the Peaks (actual or corrected...you decide )and if it was anything like mine (I suspect it should be)the torque curve was nearly flat and pretty much wall to wall, not varying more than 10% from about 2600 to 5400.

well, i was within 1 HP but, off by 11 ft.lbs. maybe if you had a 12-16" extention on the header the torque would've been closer to my guess. darn, i alway's wanted a Demon. nice combo, it'll be a blast to drive around.

Cool! I think this is the 1'st thing I've ever won, I hope I'm not setting the bar to high It must have been the inspiration from this Demon I was looking at this weekend at the races that worked it's mojo on my guesses. Either way It will get a parking spot next to the purple Hot Wheels Demon my 4 year old daughter has in her "mopar only" collection. Thanks Scott! I PM'd you my address but your mailbox is full. Rick

I've been helping Stew with the design and assembly of this project from the beginning. I've been enjoying the range of guesses for the HP & TQ in this post. With only my experience of building Mopar engines since 1960, and no computer numbers to help, I had guessed around 1.1 Hp/Cu In which = 464 HP. This is my first experience with W2 parts, so had no past knowledge to draw from to project output for this particular combination. Needless to say, I'm very pleased to see the numbers achieved. As a major Carter carb fan, I have to reveal that the numbers released by Scott were with the Edelbrock 800 AVS and were 5 Hp greater than an 850 DP Holley correctly jetted by the Dyno operator. This may ruffle a few feathers, but confirms my life long addiction to the Carter design. No argument that Holleys make a great race carb, but my 50 years experience in this Mopar world still prefers the Carter design on the street. Decent performance and usually around 30% better fuel economy makes them a great choice. My only exception to this scenario is my 451" 68 Charger, I picked up 4 MPG by going to a 6 PAK. 18 MPG with my bone stock 68 AVS went to 22 MPG with the 6 PAK. Lost 1000 RPM on the top end end due to the dual plane design (7200 to 6200) but I drive this car several thousand miles a year at 1800 RPM with my 618 overdrive trans, so the top end loss is not really a big deal. My track performance is mid 12's, so I feel I have a fun car that goes pretty well, handles VERY well with my suspension mods and still looks better than a new Charger.

Since an engine likesa the same A/F ratio despite of it being carbed or EFIed, where does the 30% difference in mielage come from? Should run 30% rich all the time, which is awfully lot?
