I'm looking for a fan clutch to put on my 69 Charger. I only have about 2 1/2 inches between the water pump pulley and the radiator. I would prefer a thermal activated one but would settle for one that engages at low rpm too. Anybody know of one that would fit in this tight space (with the fan attached)?

I believe one for a Jaguar has been said to work.

Unfortunately 2 3/4 won't fit into a 2 1/2" space. I have a flex-a-lite radiator which is thicker than stock.

Even the 64-65 race hemi fan clutch won't help you and it's the shortest one made.

You may end up having to move the core forward in the saddles like I did. I now have 1" clearance using the 2765 fan clutch.

I have seen more questions on fan/radiator/heating problems in the last year than ever before.Everyone tries to fix things that aren't broke, they worked when new.Every car that came down the assembly line worked as they should with factory parts.I can see replacement aftermarket components if someone changes/upgrades an engine to something other than the original or builds a modified car but why change what works. If all components are as they should be,you will have no problems.

We are having more problems with the older cars because of the gas available. Yes with 95% of the cars out there, there no problems but we own the 5%. The problem with the replacement fan clutch is the replacement fan clutches supersede to another number that is too tall/long for many radiators, many are those that have been modded with thicker cores. So…

Plus stock cars are boring and more power means more heat.

Yep. Engineers had it fugured out. Garbage California gas doesn't seem to hurt my 440. Runs cool with ALL stock stuff.

1970 Duster 340 had the thinest fan clutch. It was a 1 year only part. Good luck on finding one thou.

If you can't find a clutch that'll fit you may just have to bite the bullet and go with a fixed fan. For shame! But FWIW I've been able to cool well with a 4-blade fixed fan for years, so if you are in a tight spot, that's always an option.

Many of those old mopars came stock with fixed fans, so thats most likely what you'll have to do, sure there were some that came with a clutch style, & they were some thin ones out there, but theres no real demand for them anymore, & like mentioned earlier, those clutches were superceded with other #s, so its like one size fits all when you get the thin unit, the really thin units were on rare models & now there extinct.

Bob Mazzolini sells a fan clutch that is shorter than the Jaguar one.

Might be able to mill your WP housing to space it rearward which would require moving the other pulleys to keep the alignment(or a shorter WP pulley). Just thinking out loud @1:15AM
