I plan to run a alternator on my race truck and the only electronic stuff will be the
lights,
fuel pump,
MSD,
Fan,
elect water pump.

am I over thinking this with plans to run 2 batterys???
or should I keep it simple and go with one?
what do you guys run? thanks, Ron...

I put 2 in my car just because I needed weight to stay around 10.00 and I figured it mayes well be useful for something.

Just a yellow top here with no alternator, charging in between rounds.
My Dart has a yellow top and a small alternator and I still charge it.

I added a second battery to my junk at the beginning of this year, i wish i had done it 3 years ago. My stuff with all the electronics, even with an alternator would tax one battery pretty hard. Two works way better for me.

Maybe Mike needs to quit running those TA converters and he could race more?

I'm running two batteries and an alternator also.

In the Dart I started out with one redtop and 74amp alternator. Adding second redtop was a BIG improvement for that car.
I put the same setup in my new car for shakedown passes and it worked well. I have since put one 16v in and I am very impressed to say the least. I will be adding a 16v alternator very soon. Everything works better and runs faster with the extra volts.
