supply and demand is basically it. You need it, not many have it, so you pay for it.

Shop around, the ball joints and bushings are all standard MOPAR stuff. I just looked some of the stuf up at rock auto and think you might be surprised. Tie rod ends and drag link if you need them will have tobe sourced from a specility house. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php

Drag link is a non wear item, not likely to find them easily.
Tie rod ends are a bit oddly shaped. To be honest, if you can find a later model centerlink that'll fit you could swap to newer style tie rod ends and save a bit of money.

Back in the "80's" before I realized that antique and collector cars would become, someday, their weight in gold, a friend of mine had a 57 Pontiac which he'd had for years. He wanted some front end stuff, and the only people we could find that had it were an outfit that carried obsolete TRW/ Moog OEM stuff. They wanted over 200 bucks for the lower ball joints. I made some crack about why so much, not very nicely, and I'll never forget the response:
"Because we have bought up all th obsolete parts we can find, they don't make them anymore, and we are the only ones that have them, and we'll charge just as damn much as we want to."
