ok guys we have a 426 hemi that hope to have down in our 74 challenger by sept. i have a couple of ???,s the challenger has its factory power brakes i know the factory hemi cars had a offset booster is the booster its self differnt or is the bracket off set? im not looking for 100% corecct just something that works if i took the booster off can i instell the hemi and put booster back on we have acess to a test stand so the hemi will be pre run and checked everything before it ever goes into the challenger
is the linkage any differnt?(brake/booster) is there a smaller booster that will fit/work as there is nothen about this motor thats stock lol what have you guys had luck with or tried?

The OE Hemi stuff(bracket, booster, etc) was all unique in one respect or another. There are several alternatives however.

Give Cass(Dr. Diff) a buzz. He has some that he sells. I cannot comment on fit/function as I have never seen one but if it came from Cass, odds are it's good.

On another note, why not consider manual disc brakes?? All the stopping power and none of the fuss. Especially if you have a solid cam or a hot motor that needs frequent valve/rocker access. Also one less vacuum hose to contend with... Just a suggestion....

You need to make / buy another pedal rod. That's all. I have done it on our Duster, Stock discs & drums, stock distributor block between the brakelines. Only got a new voyager master cylinder and an adjustable pedal rod. Works great.

You can also make a mod to the valvecover to make it fit in there. My 73 Cuda had the stock booster and I took a small piece off the top-back of the cover and welded a triangle piece in to clear the booster. Had to pull the master to set the valves though (no big deal). Sorry I don't have a photo but it is an easy thing to do.

Here's mine without a booster. I used a adjustable pedal rod that I got from Master Power Brakes and the Mopar aluminum master cylinder with a aluminum adapter that is sold in numerous places. I think I got mine from Zippy on the board.

Don't have a picture of it on the computer and can't take a new one either. The hemi is out of the car to be installed in a new project soon. Anyway, see the last posters picture for the idea.

Hello; I put a 528 Maxx Wedge Hemi in my 1972 cuda. Perfect booster you can get from Jim's auto parts. Part number br-rpb8001. phone 603-898 2535. The only thing i had to do was lengthen the pedal push rod a little. Nice clean fit. Another good thing is you can remove the booster from the bracket from under the hood if you would need to do so. Hope this helps. Jerry.

I have a hydroboost off a '98 astro on my 69 charger with a hemi. It works great and I have plenty of room to pull the driver's side valve cover without disconnecting anything. It doesn't need vacuum so you can run whatever cam you want and the puts out more pressure to the calipers which makes it stop better. The fit would probably be the same in an e-body. The same hydroboost booster came on ford, and dodge trucks too. I bought the one off a chevy van because it was cheap ($50 at a junkyard). I made my own bracket and hoses, and modified the pedal pushrod.
