In my opinion, I think the only way to go is a 950HP Holley. I have been told by many carb builders NOT to use a true 850. They explained the reasoning but I cant remember. I guess the 850 is kindof a combination of a 750 and a 950 that generates a weakersignal to the boosters or something. Like I said I dont remember. I would NEVER put a AVS or AFB on that kind of engine. Leave those carbs to daily drivers or classes that REQUIRE their use. Go 950HP, you wont regret. I use PC Carbs in Ontario California. They have built me around 20 carbs in the last 2 years and every one of them runs flawless on the Dyno.
10.53 @ 125mph. 1.37 60 foot. Caltracs and Monoleafs, AFCO shocks.
Heads by INDIO MOTOR MACHINE; IMM. CP Pistons, PC Carbs.

I start with 870 Avengers.. that's bigger than that 850. I agree with above... go with a 950 and you'll be surprised at how nice it runs.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

We tried 3 carbs on my old 416, 850 demon, 850 annular and a 950 HP. On the dyno there wasnt one HP differance between them. After it was in the car i tried a Dom, It slowed it down, alot. Jetted up and down with not much improvment. The 950 had better throttle responce with the smaller primaries but didnt make the power the BG 850 did......Phill
