I'm looking for the 2 black plastic straps that hold the squirter hose to the bottom of the fiberglass hood. (location marked with RED arrows in pic)

The black plastic T that snaps into the hood. (same as used on steel hood cars) (location marked with BLUE arrow in pic)

Also, the ribbed hose itself. Not sure how much I need.

Does anyone sell these parts? Maybe as a kit? Who?

Thanks
Tav

I don't think anyone makes the black straps. I need them for my car as well. My car had the orginal tee and hose still. I would try Rt specialties on the tee and hose.

Great question Tav. I have the other W. Sqirter pieces for my car but I do not believe I have those either.

Anyone have a good picture of the black straps at least? Both are the same right?

Aren't the "T's" (AKA the airplane) different on the fibreglass hoods - reversed or something? I'll check my stuff.

Nope we just broke off the one from your hood. It was the same as a steel hood type.

can anyone tell me the overall length of an original strap for these transam hood cars. Looking at the pic Dave W posted above, I'm assuming about 3" ?

I never found any of those for my T/A. It is a funny looking strap and they used nothing like it anywhere else.

..(but don't tell anybody that I don't have them on my car, OK)....

....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

I've tried numerous different straps and nothing came close enough - BUT - I have something else in the works. I'll post my findings later this week

Interesting. Both my AAR and T/A have three zinc plated clips, secured to the hood with phillips head screws.

Ken,
Can you post some photos of them? I have seen the metal version on AARs before, but I have not noticed any on T/As yet. One more thing to start looking for..........

While we are on hoods....Does anyone know of a source for these (two) recessed rubber bumpers used on both the T/A and AAR hoods? They do not come in the E-body kits.

Thanks for clearing that up Ken, I do not look at the AARs as closely as I do the T/As. I admit to a slight bias.....

I am not aware of a source for the bumpers? If they are not being done yet, I can supply originals to Bill if he wants another item to take on.

Is that the bumper at the rear corners of the hood? I hadn't realized they were different from the steel hood bumpers. Is it the same height? I suppose I could drill a repro steel hood bumper for a screw if Bill doesn't come up with something.

No number on it that I can see, but the screw will not budge, so I can not check the back side just yet...

I did get the screw out of the far side, but that bumper is missing on my hood.

I thought it odd too?

I wonder if it helped hold the hood hinge mount in place during the 'glass work or something.......

Ok, back the subject at hand.
these just in 3.25" overall length + right at 1.5" folded over. And the ends look like the OE straps with at least what appears to be a very similar style clamping ends

On the rubber bumpers look at http://www.mcmaster.com Check out page 3700 what they sell may not be perfect but it's close enough that unless someone brings their calipers it would be very convincing... & the one thats closest is less than $10.00 for 100..

Ken,
the clips look like they might be the same as the cowl clips on B-bodies , if so is it a #10 pan head screw

They are. Both screw and clip are zinc plated. Just had mine redone. I find it interesting that Chrysler would use two different methods to accomplish the same task. The screw / clip method makes for a cleaner install. No sags.

Rear bumper and screw: I got the same screw length as Barry.

Many thanks to everyone who helped, and especially Bill for coming up with this much needed part. Now when I see a car missing these at a show, I can let the owner know where to find them.

Possible reason for the long screw, note the shim washers on the low mile T/A.

So Barry you are saying the screw was to long so they made it shorter by just sticking a few washers under the head
{ie} used what they had laying around since they just needed so few screws?

Nope.

I am saying that it is possible they used a long screw for this applicataion so the hood could be shimmed (as needed) to meet the upper fender line better.

Thanks I never thought of that.
If it is not to much to ask is there a compleate list of everything that is needed when installling a TA Hood?
Like all the buppers that go on the fenders{some have springs ect.
I know they used to be just repoped plastic squirters thayt would brake easy even a towel when washing the car would do them in.
But heard someone was making new metal ones in limited amounts.
My hood was drilled for pins and thats it! Measuements of the locations would also be

On the rubber bumpers look at http://www.mcmaster.com Check out page 3700 what they sell may not be perfect but it's close enough that unless someone brings their calipers it would be very convincing... & the one thats closest is less than $10.00 for 100..

I ordered a bag of these to check them out. They measure pretty much the same as Barry's within .002 inch. They appear to have a slightly textured finish instead of a smooth finish. Man, I hadn't realized how small they are! No wonder I never noticed them on a car before.

Here's a pic.
Do they look right to you guys?

These are just right!! They have the same looking head, the clip on the same way as original and they work perfectly!!

I must say it's people like Bill and parts like these that makes this hobby so much fun!!

Like all the buppers that go on the fenders{some have springs ect.

There are two spring loaded bumpers (one on each fender towards the rear)

two rubber bumpers (one on each fender towards the front)

and two threaded hood stops with rubber caps (one on each fender near the radiator support)

These parts are not specific to the N94 TA hood, and would be used on all the steel hood cars also.

If it is not to much to ask is there a compleate list of everything that is needed when installling a TA Hood?

This may not be totally complete, but it's close enough that it should help a lot.

I wrote this for another thread a while back, and this pic is from my own car.

N94 TA Hood

(AAR ‘Cudas use the same N94 code for their hood, but the information below only refers to Challenger TA Hoods.)

Came standard on all Challenger TA cars
Also optional after 4-13-70 until the end of 1971 production on 340+4 barrel, 383+4 barrel, 440+4 barrel, 440 Six Pak, & 426 Hemi. (being an RT was not a requirement, but most cars with these engines are RTs)

It was not available with A63 or A46 molding group, M44 hood rear/fender molding, or on SE or A78 formal roof cars due to the rear hood molding. V21 Hood Performance Treatment was also not available on this hood. If the car was ordered with J55 Undercoat/Hood Pad, the hood pad would be deleted.

Cars with this hood option will not come with a hood pop up spring or any hood latch mechanism. As such, J45 hood pins are required with this hood and will use rivets instead of screws to attach the bezel to the hood.

It was always painted organisol, not body color. Along with the hood, you also got the TA hood springs (not the same as AAR), TA windshield squirters (same as AAR), shorter fiberglass hood style radiator to hood seal (same as AAR), longer retainers on front of hood trim (due to fiberglass being thicker than steel), and the appropriate air cleaner to go with your engine/hood combo. If you had one of the optional radios, you were also supposed to get the rear quarter panel mounted antenna (passenger side) like the TA cars had to provide less engine interference with your radio, but so far the few non-T/A examples I’ve heard of came with the regular fender mounted antenna.

Once a production design of this hood was settled on, I don’t know of any variations of it through the end of its availability.

I have an original squirter set-up from an AAR and it has that clip still on it.

I was wrong. The T?A has the straps (or at least one of them). The AAR has the clips and screws.

Bump this back up.
Ken,
I'm trying to confirm that an AAR requires 3 of these clips , correct ?

FPAP made the only good replacements I have seen so far, but they are no longer in business.
