are you sure your not getting coolant in that cylinder?
Yeah, pretty sure. Besides, it just is not firing, oil is not milky and there isn't too much pressure in the coolant system. Doesn't the good compression rule that out?

If it is runnimg good otherwise, off of idle etc, I'd check for vac leak and for pcv or power brake booster prob as mentioned above. The intake runner for that cyl may have the vac port for those two items.
I found the vacuum advance line was disconnected but it is too late to start it tonight to see if it is the fix. (neighbors ruin everything, lol) I don,t have power brakes and the plug over that port is tight w/ teflon tape added

BTW, do I use the timed or full vacuume advance port for the vacuume advance on the distributer? (timed is passenger side) Just checking to see if it is hooked up rifgt. Currently the distributer is hooked to the timed port and I have the vacuume lines in the stock air cleaner hooked to the full vacuume port.

Completely swap the #7 and #8 wires see if the skip moves to #7.
Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

Update I found a broken valve spring on #8. It is the one right next to the firewall. I have never changed a valve spring. What do I do next?

Change it,You need to pull the rocker shaft assembly, take out the plug and either hook an air compressor to the spark plug hole or lower the piston to the bottom of the stroke , feed in a piece of rope and slowly bring the piiston to the top till it stops , now you can use one of those on head spring compressors to change the spring .
