Well..... my mopar repro battery finally let go. My battery already has one of those junk chinese agm in it, so no gutting needed however it is fully sealed no trap door on the bottom where you can remove 4 screws and the bottom panel comes off so, cutting the bottom will be nessesary but before I do this I need to know if a Optimum or Oddessy battery will fit inside the casing..... if so what model, make, size & number do I need and of course the battery spec's, this is for a group 27 red cap battery.

I use an Odessey AGM28L, I get it from Battery Mart. Works really well. Double check the size before ordering, they refreshed some of their offerings lately. I have done three of these to date, two have been in constant use and work great! I cut the top off with a dremel, glue it back on with black RTV. I use Yamabond black RTV which dries really hard. Also, you will need to chisel out the epoxy in the bottom that is holding the Chinese generic in place in order to fit the new AGM. I would do the dremel work outside, pretty messy as you make the cut.

I have used Odyssey along with whatever other brand name that is on sale in my repro conversions.

Good post my plans too, the one I picked up from a friend has two batteries in it, plus he kept the caps so I’ll need some more. The case crack apart so that will have to be glued back.
