I'm looking for a dash cam that I can easily move between my motor home and a DD. Rear cam isn't necessary since I couldn't use it in the MH anyway. What a good brand, and what options are a must.

Thanks for your opinions.

I have like 4 garmin mini 2's.
they usually have a sale and it makes them about 100 bucks.
if it is a newish car, you can get an adapter that plugs into the powered mirror so you don't have to run power cable all along the windshield and stuff.
they come with more than one mount, that glues to the window, but they make static cling patches you can stick it to instead and just peal that off to move it or pop it off the socket and plug it onto another socket in the other car.
but they are cheap enough to get 2 instead of moving them around.

worked well enough when my teenage driver had an accident. enough for the adjust to to notice the no u-turn sign he and I missed seeing on the video originally so he took the blame. lol.

I have one of these in my truck and it is fantastic. Inexpensive too. I have an integrated camera, not a universal camera like you are looking for. However, they sell universal cameras as well.

Pricing will depend on what bells and whistles you want. Voice activated is nice, but more money. Parking mode and night time recording where high on my priority list, as was front and rear recording.

Dash Cams will pay for themselves when some idiot cause and accident and then claims you were at fault.

Be careful with the micro sd cards in them. I tried to put mine back in and it somehow ended up INSIDE the dash cam, I can shake it now and hear it in there rattling around, probably destroyed it. Oh well

You can turn the audio off. That's what I did.

Great reviews, but is there something with just a remote camera for recording.
I really don't understand the need for a screen to show what you are looking at?
I'd like a camera I could mount in the grill or somewhere up front, that records.
If I need to look at what happened, just pull the SD card and watch at home.

Only reason for the recording, in my mind, is for after the fact accident resolution.

If any of these could withstand being mounted outside, I'd do that, and not have to worry about running that ugly power cable across the windshield.

No screen on mine. It records at all times while driving and when triggered when parked. I tucked the cable in the trim. The camera is behind the mirror and is not visible to me or those outside the car unless they look real close.

There are ones that made for exterior mounting.

so I tried mounting on the outside.
it isn't a great thing.
While the camera has held up well, the lens gets dirty very quickly.
I tried various ways of cleaning it, and it just winds up getting scratched and then the image is fuzzy.
I too thought it would be the cleanest solution, but practically it doesn't hold up.
it is now several years old so it doesn't owe me anything, but it is now time to find an inside mounted one instead.
there was just no good way to protect it and keep it clean.
