Another season comes to an end and, while we didn’t get to go to the track much, we made the most of it and got that goal of a 9 second e.t. that I’d been chasing for a while now!

I’m far from done as we had plans of going to a radial prep event and the air was amazing that night. Unfortunately, the top tank on the radiator decided to start leaking when I was preparing to load it on the trailer! At least it happened off the track and didn’t spoil the prep or cause an accident by happening later! Tulsa’s Mopars at the Park was also cancelled, but wasn’t sure I was going to take the car anyway.

I’m sure it has a 9.8x in it and I’m taking some steps to make it easier to get there. I have no plans of cutting the car or even putting in more cage, but there is quite a few lbs. in weight reduction to be had.

One big thing that I would like to accomplish is driving it to our local track, running a 9 and driving it home Just to say I did! grin

More weight reduction today. Titanium alternator bolt and some bolts for the clutch fan.

Looks cool, too. May have to stealth it up with some paint!

Shoot, chuck it up in a lathe and take off that rounded part right above the hex. There's another gram or two. work

I probably could, but I'll just replace the alternator bolt tubing with some aluminum! grin

There ya go! Don't forget about the brackets. Those would be a piece of cake to replicate in aluminum.

I love this car by the way. Good looking hotrod.

Thanks!

Brackets are already aluminum. There’s a post about them a couple of pages back.

I decided to pull the carb off and go through it. It’s been on the car close to 10 years now and was still working great but was looking pretty rough and starting to dribble near one of the accelerator pumps. I’m glad I did! All the bolts in it were just finger tight! I bought an ultrasonic cleaner to see how it worked and was pleasantly surprised at how well it cleaned!

I went to start the car the other day after installing the radiator and it made some strange sounds. Keep in mind I had just driven it across town and filled it up with 93 octane.

I pulled the valvecovers off and everything looked fine, even the valley was clean. As I looked closer I saw the head of a valve lodged in the #7 port! shock

After pulling the passenger side head off, we found the culprit. Both seats and valve heads were gone! Apparently the seats fell out WHILE IT WAS SITTING and led to the failure.

This was the last thing I expected to fail in this engine!

The rest of the pistons have some light damage so I'll probably just replace them as well.

Member farmboy gave me a great deal on Trickflow 240’s, Track Heat intake and bolts for the install. Building back better already! grin

Pistons and pushrods and I believe we’re in business!

Some interesting weights:

Trickflow intake is 5 lbs. lighter than the Holley Street Dominator.

Each Trickflow 240 head is 5 lbs. heavier than the Stealth head.

Overall height is 1.5” higher with the Trickflow vs. Holley.

Pistons are here. Looks like one cylinder may need to be sleeved as it had a chunk removed from the top when the valve seats let go.

I finally tore the engine down to the bare block. Everything looks good inside with the block being the piece that is keeping me from putting it all back together. I’ll see if the machine shop can sleeve #2 or if I need a new block on Monday. It’s looking great for the abuse it takes!

*Edit* I dropped it off with the guy that originally did my machine work and he was sure he can do a sleeve on #2. He's very thorough and did a great job originally which is why it has held up so well. Semi retired and works 20 hours a week but said he can have it back in around 2 weeks!

The machinist said to make sure the new pistons weighed the same as the old pistons. After cleaning a very small amount of carbon off, they both came in at 515 grams.

One replaced, 7 more to go! grin

Gonna lose some of the stealthy properties of your build. Will it all fit under the flat hood?

Probably. I'll just keep the hood shut!

I had a 1" phenolic spacer and the NX plate on the Street Dominator. At one time I had a 2" Phenolic spacer before the nitrous plate. After careful measuring, it looks like the Trickflow intake will fit under the hood if I delete both of those.

I'll keep both intakes but want to thoroughly test it n/a before going back on the hose.

I have a second hood with a cutout and the fiberglass Max Wedge scoop but like using the flat hood.

Maybe put a nitrous puck in the intake? Keep it somewhat hidden and no hood clearance issues.

Funny you should mention that, I got a quote for a puck install a couple of weeks ago.

A bit out of my price range at the moment but may end up doing it later.

It was really close to $700 (what I was quoted) and you have to ship your intake to them.

They fit it in the plenum and align the discharge holes with the ports so it's a little work to get it right.
