There’s always this option….. last year of the flat tappet mill too.
I dont think those have much cargo carrying capacity (or the Ford F550 based ones), the house portion pretty much uses it all save for maybe 1000lbs if that (thats before you put any cargo, water or YOU in it). Dynamax is now offering the Ford F600 chassis to increase that number. IIRC a 10,000lb trailer = 1000lbs CCC, so it would be way overloaded
If towing (besides a flat towed car) get a larger chassis.

I've been trying almost full time for 4 days to spend 6 figures on a new Ram 4500 or 5500 crew cab Lariat. I figured it'd be the last truck I need for my camper and race trailer hauler. They make it impossible to get what I want, in so many ways. It is so frustrating. And there are so many drawbacks legally. I give up. Just not going to do it. Not going to spend that kind of dough on something that annoys me. Thanks for all the help on it. Regarding the truck camper vs. class C debate, each has their pros and cons. Over the years, I have owned a class A, traveled the country racing with my brother in laws class C, rented a class C, owned 4 different slide in campers, and 3 travel trailers. For me and my current needs, the Eagle Cap 1165 is the winner. So I'm going back to my old plan of keeping the 93 going until I get my 68 Dodge crew cab Cummins dually built.

I just read a short article where the new Jeep leader says they're cutting prices $3,000-$7,000 depending on model, and un-bundling option packages so certain items can be optioned individually. No idea if that will happen with RAM, but it sounds like a philosophical change that may carry over there.

You better find someone to build that truck for you... The harsh truth is, you don't have enough time in your life to get to that project.
Farming out most of the work is probably still going to be a lot cheaper than buying a new truck. The biggest budget item will be for dynamat and soundproofing.

That would be awesome!

Why would you need that? You couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a Nitroglycerin Plant.

It can be frustrating ordering a new truck .. back in 21 I ordered a new 1500 short bed / regular cab 4WD , I was lucky to find a dealer ( 30 miles away ) that would order it for me .The local dealers were either clueless or just wanted to sell what was on their lot. There are items I wanted especially the color I really wanted green as it’s my favorite , nope can only get green on an 8 ft bed ? I could only get the " Classic " body style , they do offer a lot of options however especially in the electronics but I wanted a pretty basic truck. I ordered it in early March and come July it still wasn't here , part of the deal was that since I was trading in my 08 Quad cab I don't put many miles on it ( it only had 52,000 ) I had a few long distance races and Carlisle coming up the sales person called me and said we just got a 1500 quad cab in with the 3.92 rear , trailer tow package etc. that you want it does have a few things you don t need however like more electronic features , bed cargo pkg. etc. I looked at it , liked the color ( blue ) drove it and really liked it so I bought it , since I don't always race local I am glad I got the quad cab but still really like the looks of a short bed / regular cab . The truck has been awesome ! its comfortable and tows awesome ! I don't use it much especially in bad weather .. its 3 1/2 yeas old and has 13,000 miles on it ! I have considered upgrading to a 2500 but the price has really gone up almost $20,000 in three years , my truck is how I want it now ( air bags for towing , its been Ziebart undercoated , I bought the extended warrantee etc. ) its not going anywhere !
We both ordered Rams at the same time in early 2021 after “SNK-EYZ” kindly shared a couple of the friends and family codes he gets every year as a Chrysler retiree. The OP might want to check with him to see if he has any codes available this year to share. Both of our Ram ordering experiences were 180 degrees different. Scarred after the horrible dealings buying my last new car, from the closest CDJR dealer to me, Napletons, I had PTSD about ever dealing with a car dealer again. Look them up, they are one of the worst dealers in the nation!! A member of my Mopar club recommended a long time salesman he knows to me, who’s at a dealer an hour south of me. I dealt with him on my truck rather than take a chance on any of the probably 15-20 closer CDJR dealers to me. I told him the options I wanted on a Ram 2500. He checked and told me there was nothing around very close to my wants, and it would be better to order. That was my preference anyway, and was in no hurry not really needing a truck until late spring or early summer. He went over my option list and filled out an order sheet. Some minor issues came up with the configuration that didn’t come up when I’d used the “build your Ram” feature online, like to get the “Sport” package wasn’t working on his end until we made some tweaks to meet requirements not apparent, I had to add front tow hooks for $100 or so to allow it. They listed omit Sport decal as a no cost option, but the system wouldn’t allow! I guess you could only omit it if you ordered the Night package also. Seems dumb, but whatever… I went in to meet the salesman, finalized things including the price with the F&F discount, I made a deposit, and he submitted my order. Easy Peasy. He said it’d be 8-10 weeks to arrive, 3 of which would be shipping from Mexico. So I was caught a bit off guard around 6 weeks later when my phone rang and it was my salesman telling me “hey, your truck is just rolling off the transporter rig right now! I wasn’t even expecting it for another month, so had to scramble to get a ride down quick before the they decided to sell it to someone else! This was when the car market was going nuts. Anyway, everything went great, the truck is great, thanks to SNK-EYZ, my salesman and the plant in Mexico for a great buying experience!
I get 6 Friends and Family Control Numbers every year, if anyone needs one just contact me and I'll set you up with one. It makes the sale price 1% under dealers invoice and any rebates or incentives still apply. If I've already gotten you one you're already in the system, if I haven't I need some basic information.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

All I know is my friend owns one (a 2019) and tows his 24’ race trailer from the Inland Empire to Vegas and you couldn’t slap the look of towing pleasure off his face. He’s really impressed with it and that route is a pretty stout pull for anything.

I'll do a combination of farming out some of the work and doing some of it myself. I already have a rust free 68 crew cab donor truck, The chassis from a 93 1 ton cab and chassis with a 160 in wheelbase that is the perfect length for the crew cab long bed, and a 97 Dodge 1-ton dually Cummins to donate the 12 valve Cummins. I'm looking at a '09 1 ton dually wreck to get the 17-In aluminum wheels, rear end, and springs from. I like the bigger disc brakes instead of the old drums. I'm going to box the frame so that there will be no worries at all about strength, even though this cab and chassis frame is 1 in taller than a pickup frame. Everything on the truck will be all fresh and rebuilt for reliability. I'm not planning to spend a quarter of a million dollars on it. Probably my biggest expense as usual will be the paint and body work. Does anybody know of somebody around here that I could hire to do some of the work?
