I have an M1 dual plane carbureted magnum intake coming. I actually found one for a reasonable price. Now I won't have to worry about getting my heads drilled for an LA intake. Looks like it will take the big 70s thermostat. I know that even with many LA intakes you can't mount an AC compressor because of thermostat placement.
What's the story on using AC with this intake? This will be on a 2000 magnum 360 stock block and heads. It will be getting an LA timing cover and v belt drive.
I plan to use the 80s style aluminum AC compressor.

You might want to wait more than 4 hours for an answer.

Not sure on the AC. The by pass hose needs a 45 degree fittting with a cut down hose. This is a swapa I did for a cutomer. 360 Magnum with a Performer RPM THe front dress is from the doner1968 318. Used the 5 bolt valve covers from the 318 as well.

if it is the intake I think it is, it has been discontinued for a while.
it has all the provisions to use the magnum front accessories including that ac compressor.
if you are set on using the la stuff, I think you might have some cutting to do to get some of the taller stuff out of your way to fit the la style compressor. those parts are there for how the mag compressor is held on the intake, but it really is bolted to the bracket that bolts up to the front. there are just a couple of for lack of a better word , re-enforcements brackets that hold the compressor.

My newest post ain't showing.
The compressor i want to use is much like the OEM magnum one from 92-03 only with v belt drive not serpentine.
Definitely not the big old cast iron RV2. The aluminum one that was "in between".
Would the magnum water pump work for an LA front cover? (I'm thinking "not")
Or if not was there ever a magnum engine timing cover that had the provision for a mechanical fuel pump? From MP, or aftermarket? I have a couple of the factory magnum accessory brackets and I think I have the brackets for an 80s LA also. This was what I was hoping for.

The Magnum waterpump pump rotates the opposite direction of the LA pump.

Yeah that's what I thought. But many reversed rotation systems have the thermostat in the lower hose,
But even with a reverse water pump the magnum kept the thermostat in the upper hose so I thought a (slight) maybe. I'm sure the fins are also opposite. I remember on the late 80s/early 90s jeeps they had problems with overheating after a new water pump because of that. So I'm thinking that just maybe if I went serpentine belt, that I could use a magnum water pump on an LA cover... I know I wouldn't want to run that pump in standard rotating direction... That's where the problem came in on those particular jeeps...
I'm still in the parts and info seeking/gathering mode (what else to do in winter) and I only want to do this particular job once.... I have 2 trucks in progress I'm buying parts for. . this one and a 1/2 ton with a/6....
I'm trying to keep things seperate but I'm needing alot of the same parts for both... Particularly interior stuff.
Wife just sees me "spending money" haha
