So in the event that my Cuda sells, I am thinking about putting my Duster back on the street. To do that, I have to put some smaller meats on it. 33x16.6 is a tad big to try and street. My thinking is I probably have to have longer housing tubes to go to smaller tires, but keep the 4-link the way it is. So my question is, has anyone used one of these aluminum housings in a street strip 700-800hp car? It would save me a bunch in welding costs, and what's left, I can tack new brackets on the tubes and have them finished at a professional welders place. Anyone used one? I know the roundy round guys use these, so they must be able to take some abuse. https://www.jegs.com/i/Speedmaster/...34806&cto_pld=CKG7iC8NAAA8X79K58d5Iw

Never seen that before, It looks nice and beefy, and priced IMO at a great value. It looks as beefy or beefier than my similar style Mag dana. The steel brackets are for the Roundy guys to attach various links, or to beef up the design or some weakness? Seems maybe a tad porky? Shipping weight 29lbs? I would love to measure one to see if any adapter plate is possible to incorporate an 8.75", which I seriously doubt. Hope springs eternal.

So I like that...I went and did a search, and can't find any modular Dana 60 centers....Is that a one off, or somthing no longer made?
Also looks like the one I found, they take it a step further....

Why not just order a sheet metal housing from any number of sources out there?

Also looks like the one I found, they take it a step further.... I don't know the exact history. I believe it was a late 60's item, there are others out there, but are rather rare. Can't believe the Dana Mag unit is in the same class strength wise as cast steel, but in my application for a streetcar that is OK by me. I will be setting it up as a 3 link, so the modular design is very useful for me.

Hard pass. And you wont be getting it a Summit or Jegs either. They kicked these hacks to the curb.

Decent starting point for an IRS set-up, but not sure what advantages it brings other than cool.

Why not just order a sheet metal housing from any number of sources out there? Much stronger than that unit. I think the ends would flex with that Chinese built crap Gus

The Mag DANA housings were a child of the early 70's and very limited production. they have a limited life span as they have the traditional corrosion issues plus they move around quite a bit (Flex) creating gear wear issues. I wouldn't do an aluminum center on a street car IMO. especially a Speed master

So you are saying none of you shop at Harbor Freight? None of you put cheap chinko parts from Napa on your cars when you need a ball joint or somthing? Why hasn't an American manufacturer stepped up? I mean we have every kind of budget aluminum head on the planet now...but no rears....Not building a whole new Dana. No I dont....Unless there is ZERO options which is rare. The racecars get only American made parts period. Its not cheap but at least I know the $$$ stay here. There are plenty of American manufacturers of sheet metal housings. From not terribly expensive to outrageously expressive. There is also Mark Williams and Strange who both build modular housings, if you feel you have to go that way. There is also a manufacturer of Billet housings if you really wanna spend money.
