IIRC, the interference-locking type, washer-head, usually reddish in color. Been many years, though... Affirmative!

I wish the OP would state what car, I'm only familiar with E bodies. Anyway, I think there might be a terminology confusion . The nut in my first picture is for the CRANK to the wiper motor. Don't know if the OP is calling that the pivot. This second picture of mine is the PIVOT (according to my Parts Book) and it's attached with 3 bolts to the car. Pretty sure he is talking about an A-body but a B-body would be the same. E-bodies have a completely different setup. On and A & B body, the pivot is installed from the inside(under the dash) with two nuts and the studs are attached to the body. On an E-body, the pivot is installed through the cowl with small bolts.
