I'm noticing some really strange things that go on as I'm now into season 5 - car things that is.
* Mannix starts out in the first episode driving a car that I can't remember now - nothing interesting. * Second or third episode in, he starts driving the dark green Dart GTS convert. (anybody know if it's a 340 or a 383?) * Around the second season - late into it, he's driving a dark green 70 Cuda convertible. (again, anybody know if it's a 340 or 383?) Occasionally you can hear the OE exhaust, but mostly they dub-in something quieter. * Sometime late in the 3rd or early 4th season, he's driving a dark green '71 Cuda convert. Again - what engine? (there are NO engine emblems on the bulge hoods)
Now I'm into the 5th season.........
* Episode I was watching yesterday evening, he's driving the '71 convertible, then in the same episode, the car switches to a '72 Cuda convertible with 70-71 side marker lights, then back to the 71 again, so basically they took probably the '71 & installed a'72 grille & rear taillight panel. In an episode before this one, Joe is being chased by a hit man in the mountains & he loses it & smashes into the side of a rocky wall - smashed the left front 3/4 pretty significantly.
* Also one of the 5th season episodes Joe's Cuda is being repaired, so he's driving a pale yellow '70 Charger with a burnt orange bucket interior. The car had been repainted - looked like with a paint roller & latex paint. The wheels & hubcaps were all painted as well - looked like a bad Earl Scheib job - they painted EVERYTHING including the front bumper! (the grille was regular though)
Several episodes show various cars going over the side of a mountain road & the car they show going over is a totally different one than the one that was being driven. None of the performance cars in the show have white letter tires - either blackwalls or whitewalls.
Basically, Mannix gets shot, shot-at, or in a fight in EVERY episode. I also read where he did most of his own stunts. The more I watch it, the more I appreciate what a great actor Mike Connors was, & what a really great show it was! Also, almost ALL of the cars being driven in the show are Chryslers, & they are SO SWEET! I don't know why my Dad was so stuck on Fords back in the 60's & early 70's - the Mopars are so much nicer & better looking!

Yep I have enjoyed them all immensely. The cars of course plus some pretty good action scenes. Yeah, that first bastardized Toronado isn't my favorite but it gets better for several seasons until he gets the Craparo.

He started out in a custom Torando IIRC. In the last season or two he drove a Camaro. Great show but I barely remeber seeing the last season, no one ever seems to play it.

The second season is playing now on MeTV at 1am. It appears he is driving a 67 GTX convertible maybe?

That show also broke some color barriers with the character Peggy Fair in that era.

Wait'll you get to the later episodes where he's got the Camaro. There's a chase where he gets repeatedly rammed by a pursuer. Starts off in a '74, which changes to a '73 as soon as the actual bumping starts, then changes back to a clean '74 as soon as the action's over.
