Don't know if I want to get under anything called "Bend Pack!"
A friend was going to Eagleville today to look at some equipment. I guess they sell close out, used equipment etc.

Lots of great info here!

THANKS AGAIN!!

And that would be? I am leary of the overseas made stuff. Thus far I've used my Gemini a few times and it doesn't make me nervous, looks a bit like the bend pak units from the pictures I've ssen of them.

Wasn't there a lift somewhere that dropped a Corvette onto another Corvette? Eagle brand?

thats why I paid more for a Backyard Buddy made in Ohio and certified, my life is worth more than the $1500 I might save on a cheaper unit

Thanks.I'm hoping to start building my garage in the spring, and trying to make up my mind on ceiling height.I plan on buying a Backyard Buddy lift as well, and would like to be able to use it for stack parking.

I was impressed with Eagle lifts. I think the 9000lb assymetic lift is an excellent choice. I know several people with 4posts and they complain about the posts being in the way. Eagle was very friendly. They even sent me the installation instructions for the lift I wanted even though I had not bought one. They even discuss cutting down the tall lift 3" to accomodate my garage ceiling for only like $300. For under $2000 I think it is the lift for me. Only need 4" of concrete if I remember. I have the garage all wired for it, however, I am on pause right now. I am contemplating building a bigger garage out back as a shop. You may want to check out American lifts as well. I seem to remember they were competitive as well.

That was a 4 post unit that let go on one of the corners. Don't remember what broke.

Then the next question is, are the Eagles certified?

I am going to go over all this stuff tonight. Got to head to work this morning.

Rotary lift HANDS DOWN. Excellent quality and reasonable $$$. My 10,000 lb 2 post was like $3200. Options and different heights are available if clearance is an issue. We have had them in professional shops that I have worked in, and so that is what I wanted at home.

Eagle is low on the list of the better quality certified lifts. Top of the list is Mohawk and I'd put Rotary next. The name Bend Pak come from the benders they also make. They've been in business for only 41 years. Double check the certs on the backyard stuff, I don't think they have the certs that the commercial pro stuff has.

I have looked at practically every lift offered up close and here is my

If you want a 2 post Mohawk is the choice. The wider base is a plus especially if the strength of your concrete floor is unknown. They also offer attatchments to convert the 2 post into a "wheel lift" design.

Looking for a 4 post... Backyard Buddy all the way. Was copied directly from a military design for portable lifts in the field. Superior construction , best locking system, fully captured post (no cheesy C-channel posts w/internal slider), best engineered by far.

Things like channel runways (instead of stamped), tool steel pins on locks and pulleys, machined pulley's(not cast or plastic), and the biggest lifting ram all cost more.

Made in the USA , toured the plant when I picked mine up. My dad has had his over 12 yrs. w/no problems.

Regardless what anyone will tell you ANY internal slider (C-channel) post lift is designed to be bolted down.

Once you take the time to look at the "Good Ones" you can easily see where corners are cut on the cheap models.

You get what you pay for.

Got a Quaker Steak and Lube near you??? They have them in the resturants loaded with REAL cars and tables set under them for people to eat. I GUARANTEE the lawyers insisted some research be done on them for this.

The backyard buddy looks like a nice lift but I cannot find anything on their website attesting to independent certification from the ALI or ETL. Most all lifts are ANSI standard, this doesn't mean it is independently certified/tested.

Never asked them about certification once they told me they were copied from a US military design.. I figured the military specs would override any civilian tests????
