Grab a NOCO GENIUS10 charger. https://no.co/genius10They are approx $100. Home Depot sells them, Battery Warehouse, Amazon... Get best reviews and ratings. I love mine. Have the 10 and the 5. GENIUS10 6V/12V 10-Amp Smart Battery Charger 10-Amp Battery Charger, Battery Maintainer, and Battery Desulfator Introducing the all-new GENIUS10, one of our most powerful, highest-performing, energy-efficient, and compact chargers yet. The GENIUS10 is a 6-volt and 12-volt battery charger, battery maintainer, and battery desulfator rated at 10-amp for lead-acid automotive, marine, and deep-cycle batteries, including flooded, gel, AGM, and maintenance-free, plus lithium-ion batteries. Meet the GENIUS10 - Similar to our G7200, just better. It's 17% smaller and delivers 115% more power. And it's simpler and easier to use than ever before. Do more with Genius - Designed for 6-volt and 12-volt lead-acid automotive, marine, and deep-cycle batteries, including flooded, gel, AGM, and maintenance-free, plus lithium-ion batteries. Enjoy precision charging - An integrated thermal sensor detects the ambient temperature and alters the charge to eliminate over-charging in hot climates and under-charging in cold climates. Charge dead batteries - Charges dead batteries as low as 1-volt. Or use the all-new Force Mode that allows you to take control and manually begin charging dead batteries down to zero volts. Simple to set up and use - Plug-in, connect to the battery, select a charge mode, and start charging your battery. A fully-automatic, worry-free battery charger for year-round use. Restore your battery - Detects sulfation and acid stratification and restores lost performance for stronger engine starts and extended battery life. Compatible with all types of vehicles - Charge and maintain cars, motorcycles, lawnmowers, ATVs, tractors, trucks, SUVs, boats, classic cars, hot rods, and more - you name it. Thank you so much for this tip. I have 3 group 31 AGM batteries in my boat. Over the winter one held the charge pretty well. The other 2 were down to around 6 volts. Bought a Harbor Freight charger with the AGM setting. Told me after a brief time that both batteries were no good. Tried to force a charge with my 40 year old Craftsman charger for an half hour and no voltage increase. Was reading this on here the other night and decided to give it a try. Well, after an 8 hour charge, got the green light and 12.7 volts in the battery. One of the batteries was a year old and the other 2 years old. Again, thanks for the huge tip.

So I end up buying a NOCO GENIUS10 AND A GENIUS1 AND NOW I feel like an idiot. Tried bringing the sub-Optima battery back to life. Put charger in repair mode overnight and it went into standby mode. Then put it in AGM charge mode and get a message stating you have a completely over priced utter piece of garbage OPTIMA battery. So this won't be a total loss, I am going to use this POS Yellow Top for 1000 yd. target practice. I have a nice new custom rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor that I have never shot.

Most chargers won't kick on if the battery is below 10 volts
There is a reason for that, it's called thermal runaway. A possibility when trying to charge a deeply discharged battery not designed for deep discharge. Now before someone pipes up with how they've done it for years with no problems, yeah I know I've done it too, but you aren't going to get sued if it happens and someone's house and car burns down. So the charger manufacturers but in limitations to mitigate that risk. What you do to defeat that is up to you. Yeah just asked Jim about that. Sorry Jim to bring up bad memories. That was a power tool battery not a car battery

I am debating on buying a Optima charger. Took the battery in this week to parts store and left it overnight. Still dead 11.7 volts. I have had 4 Optima's 2 Red & 2 Yellows now down to 1 Yellow. I just hate giving them more $$$ for their crap. I hear Odyssey make a good AGM but pricey. Funny my tractors have had the best Batteries. John Deer garden tractor finally replaced OEM battery after 22 years. My 38 hp Kubota still has original battery 17 years old. None of my car batteries last much more than 5 Some years ago I read an interview of a Johnson Controls engineer. He said that all of the different brands of batteries they make have exactly the same components but the better ones have more of the same plates as the the cheaper batteries. He said the heavier it is the more plates are in it so buy the heaviest one you can find. When he was asked which one that would be he said John Deere.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Did you watch the Optima video I linked? Yes, I already did what was in the video. They did leave out one important step......Get tannerite and blow the over-priced POS up and never ever buy an Optima battery.

The only experience I have with Optima batteries is with our boat (5.7L Mercruiser) where I have two Blue top marine deep cycle batteries and so far good service. Agree with the "over-priced", that's over $600 of over-priced deep cycle batteries sitting hidden in a corner of an old boat. You have to wonder why with all of the decades and decades of poor performance and expense with batteries in general would anyone want to buy an EV
