Hi Guys,
The mechanical fuel pump in my New Yorker just died and taught me a valuable lesson about in line filters before the pump. I hate mechanicals and would like to put an electric in. What is a good one to run? Trying to avoid breaking the bank- Anyone know if NAPA/CAP/Autozone carry anything up to the task?

TIA

unless you have a very loud exhaust don't buy a holley.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

I read that the holley's were loud but wow The New Yorker is running the dual-snorkel air cleaner and a single exhaust, not quite loud enough to drown out that thing

My local CAP has one of these:
Airtex E2000 Electric Fuel Pump

Anybody ever tried one? Good? Bad? Ugly? China?

I like the Carter GP4070 pump. very quiet, lasted me for years driving year round, and no regulator

Well, art is art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water! And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does. Now, uh... Now you tell me what you know.

i have changed quite a few of these as airtex makes intank pumps for specific vehicles, i would not recommend them for that reason only but have never used one. i had a "summit brand holley blue" that got me shut down in the staging lanes cause it was leaking like a basket, i put on one of those new holley hp gerotor pumps and could not be happier, plenty of fuel and surprising for holley, not a crap load of noise.

And I thought my holley blue was loud. It makes mine seem quiet.

I used a cheapie Autozone electric fuel pump and a block off plate when stripped out the fuel pump push rod plug. Took and hour to put in the car wiht a regulator and ran well in the car. Actually, I had mine on a switch. Ever since, I prefer an electric pump and plan to put the car back together with one. My 440 was slightly modified but still ran well on the cheap pump. I think I had $30 in the whole deal.

Too late but the Edelbrock Street is the quietest I could find and has been reliable for 5 years.

I always use a 1/2 inch thick piece of rubber between the brackets and mounting surface. Makes a big difference in noise and vibration.

Finished installing it tonight. Turned the key, let it pump for 20 seconds or so and it fired right up. So far so good, no leaks. It's loud enough to hear to make sure it's on but quiet enough that I can't hear it over the exhaust. Summit got it to my door in 2 days standard shipping and luckily C-bodies have plenty of room to mount it Road testing it soon but I'm sure it'll be fine Thanks for the help everyone
