We've had something tearing up our yard recently, figured it was a 'coon, but never saw it. So we put out a trap and lo and behold we caught a 'coon, a blonde one. They are mostly only found in ones sold for pets and are pretty rare even in that market, but hardly ever seen in the wild. It wasn't getting in to our chickens so I just relocated him. I didn't have the heart to kill him.

I would have sold him to a hunter or hunting dog trainer to use for training those dogs work up twocents
The weekend, Memorial day weekend in 2005, we moved into our home here in Bend, OR we saw two really big raccoons cross the street in front of our house and walk across our yard while for looking for food I guess confused
We see geese, deer and squirrels here in our yard regularly shruggy
The deer are not afraid of people at all, same on the geese, they are usually in pairs, and one will watch while the other forages and then they switch looking when the other one starts to eats smile

Cool up

Reminds me of the time I saw a homeless guy searching for food in a dumpster. I can't stand to see another human being degraded to that level for food. So I went to a local costume store and bought him a Racoon costume to wear.

So you put the racoon in the witness relocation program? Hope you took it ten miles away. If not, they seem to have a homing beacon that brings them right back.

July 19th should be "Drive Like Rockford Day". R.I.P. Jimmie.

Correct. They will return unless you send them a long, long way from where they started.

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Recent encounter with a racoon. Found him sleeping in garage in my cats spot and couldn't find Darth. Trap him and moved him about a mile or two. Yes he came back. Next morning neighbor calls and say racoon under his steps and is dead. Said it didn't have a face and was all bloody. Found my Darth but had to put him down, his belly tore up.

Sorry about your cat. I think its good he relocated it. All things have there place in nature.

Ricky, the Rack Coon visits my compost box a couple times a week. Never see it or any sign of it any other place.

A tin of sardines. We don't eat them but we give them to the dogs about once a week.

Yeah I know, 6-10 miles away. I only took him about a mile and a half. He was pretty terrified after the dogs got done circling the trap. I actually had to dump him out of the trap. I'm hoping the experience was terrifying enough for him not to return. If he does I'll trap him again and take him to Spencer, 35 miles away.

Sorry about your cat, nature isn't as kind as I am.

If you have not already watched the TV documentary
“Raccoon Nation”
in the BBC series “The Nature of Things”
search for it.
Eye opening and entertaining.
