Geez!!!!!!!! That took a while! LOL!!!!!!!!!!
It had Accel Gen VII Long gone, now Holley HP
This is the first time running, it's a break in tune (ceramic coated headers) where the headers survived. Proper tune going in the car soon. The intake has to come off and get fixed, long story, but my car is finalllly running!!!! Geez!!!!

Dealing with "big names" isn't always fun!!!!
Barton built the engine, had a few issues I fixed, we had the pan off and valve covers off and determined..... the engine had most likely NEVER ran. Hence the prep and cam break in. The "dyno sheet" we guessed fake years ago when I got it, the BSFC values somehow left off was a good indication lol.

Rance Baxter built the EFI, the throttle blades are positioned terribly, the linkage doesn't work correctly (one bank opens at a different rate than the other) the vacuum manifolds are done incorrectly (one is ported vacuum) and the injectors stillll aren't sized properly, but at least borderline. I'll fix it all when I take it off. The cylinders are imbalanced and the throttle blades stick at idle once warm.

And??? I have a John Cope tranny and PTC convertor. LOL I have my fingers crossed it works well!!!!!

It is frustrating when you drop extra $$$$ with the people that are suppose to be the best and it doesn't work out that way.
I like your attitude "I'll fix it when I take it all off." At least your moving forward, many would never get over the bumps. up

All I can say is when you get it right, that first fully successful ride will make it worth all the effort.

I fixed a couple Barton mistakes. No dipstick and an upper oiling issue, nothing terrible. The thing I don't like is that I was told the engine was dyno'd with that intake. It surely wasn't. I have serious doubts the engine was ever run, and I think I got a phony dyno sheet. The BSFC was even not filled out. Is what it is,

Rance Baxter did the EFI, lots of mistakes on the manifold, and it's pretty simple and obvious stuff. Ported vacuum to the IAC?? Throttle blade alignment is the biggest issue, and linkage geometry. Just bad.

And I still have to see how my John Cope tranny works lol

zoom, went over your head.

Flathead do have valve covers btw.

They are on the side of the block and are usually called tappet covers, but the they cover the valves too.

I got it, hence the whistling emoji. I was referring to covers on top as we're used to seeing. biggrin
