The Mopar parts manuals are TERRIBLE.

So I'm trying to nail down the ash tray bumpes for the 71-74 B bodies

In the picture below I have personally ID'ed the LH style bumper in a 72 RR at Roseville Moparts. I have also ID'ed the RH bumper in a photo of a 73-74 B body dash frame for sale. It was very easy to see the long, skinny "tail" on that bumper and I could tell the dash was a 73-74 (even though the listing said 71-74) because of the plastic glove box.

Can ayone confirm this (chicken poop, I know) detail?

71TA - I know this doesn’t answer your question definitely, but I was able to take pics of the glovebox bumpers on my 71 RR. They are the type with the shorted thicker tail. I could not get any pics from under the dash of the ash tray bumpers, sorry. Too much stuff restricting the camera position.

Thanks for the effort! And confirmation on the glove box bumper.

The ash tray bumpers are quite different. Either small (.25" dia?) and rounded bump or wider (.375"dia?) and fairly flat.

looks to me if you used the bumper on the right on a vehicle that originally had the left style bumper that the ashtray would not close flush, so there may be a difference in the trays themselves or the dash frame tray opening?

You would think. Are all the dash frames the same from 71-74? They are all listed oinline as being the same. I think I nailed these bumpers to 71-72 and 73-74. Looks like they'll fit in the same hole (.187") but the head ARE slightly different. Maybe because of the larger surface area of the later ones, they didn't "squash" as much over time. Just enough. Thus the ash tray door stayed flush.

This has been an INCREDIBLE learning curve. The Mopar parts books are TERRIBLE compared to every other maufacturer. The Cheby (and even AMC) parts books you could use as a restoration manual. The Chrysler books have errors, ommisions and some items dont even HAVE part numbers (like E body ash tray bumpers!?!?!) And the drawings are cartoonish like a drunk drew them with a crayon created them. I worked at Stanley Garage door openers in my 20's. I knew some of the ARTISTS that creaed thier literature and it was spectacular. And that was for a GARAGE DOOR OPENER.
