We are part of a dying breed.

At least they say they are looking for a location to build a new track.

Wow - and bummer.
Always seemed to me that the family would have it forever, and it was safe from encroachment.

A lot of housing being built within a mile of the track. Never a good thing for long term viability.

I bet they can sell that property to a developer for a little coin.

Got to take my Cuda down the track at Bandimere last year, and will race there again during Rocky Mountain Race Week this year. It is sad, such a cool track.

You missed one. Great Bend is closed. Track needs resurfacing…. May never reopen. I live in Ks and Wichita international also closed. I think I’ll go fishing.

My son lives and works out in that area and took his car there once. Such a shame.

It's definitely a first-class facility and under first-class management. The Bandimeres will look for a new location, but how long can that take to find the ideal location and put together another facility matching what they have. Pueblo, CO has a drag strip, but nowhere near the same level as the Bandimere facility.

Yeah the repaving deal certainly went wrong for them. Hopefully they can over come it.

With it'sproximity to Red aRocks it was only a matter of time. Very nice facility.

Street racing and airport drags will pick up some of it.

Even though I don't race I have done 3-4 events per year there for decades. I'm really bummed.
They are building a huge housing development right across the highway from the track. Has been open space forever. I hope they build another track somewhere.

x2. Hopefully they are making incredible $$$ on the sale of the land and can use that to build another super nice facility elsewhere. It gets desolate (and flat, lol) east of Aurora or if you head south on 25 some.

Need to get the older tracks on the state historical registry if possible. Makes it way harder for developers to move in and push the track owner out. They did that here a few years ago as people were starting to build homes south and east of the track.

I watched this yesterday morning and its really like they are not being pushed out but that they are leaving because they don't think they can be good neighbors anymore.

However given how much they have spent on the facility (they even have a cooled starting line) they must be getting a ton of money for the land.

It is really a unique track and I will be sorry to see it go.

However it always surprised me what crappy pits were provided for the Stock and Super Stock cars at the national events. This lead to poor participation in my opinion.

i did hear a rumor that Barney Visser (of Furniture Row) may be one of the new owners of the property.

Lets be real, its 2023. I wont post many specifics in this section but Colorado is Cali 2.0 on gas powered vehicles and even just added 155 air pollutants the EPA does not factor into there clean air regulations. Not to mention the obvious noise issues from the facility.

One can not blame the Bandimere Family for bailing on there own vs waiting for things to come to a head with Morrison and the County. Morrison has in a passive aggressive way has been at odds with the track for some time and lets not forget how the "Family" bucked all the covid rules that brought litigation upon themselves angering many residents and public officials.

If any new tracks come to Colorado they will be electric first as a top/first priority. Whatever big money the family might be getting they deserve for what they have provided the motorsports community with.

Unfortunately what many of us hold dear in our racing exploits it is not viewed equally by many. Its just reality as we see track after track closed or shut down.

Ya they had Jefferson County Health and the state all in a up roar when they wouldn't shut down during the "shut down". And yes we are CA2.0 but still a lot of car people and cars, the real ones, here. I think noise is a big factor too. They were already shutting everything down by 10pm. With the new housing right across the highway no way in hell those people are going to tolerate the Mile High Nationals. Same thing happened when they built DIA 20 miles out of town. They immediately built houses out by the airport and then those a**clowns whined about the airport noise. So DIA then had to build sound walls. No way Bandimere is building sound walls.

Red Rocks was a venue long before Bandimere came into play. Definitely was not the issue. House across the Freeway were/are. They are building new house at a fast rate. My Cousin lives just a couple miles from the track, and says you can hear the track when the Nationals are in town. Doesn't bother most people, but only takes a few A holes to mess everything up.

Nothing concrete but most likely east or north of Denver. We have had several encouraging meetings with county officials, even one this past week. Our heart and desires are to provide a place for our racers, fans, and sponsors to continue doing the sport we all love.

I just don't understand how the law allows people to move next to an existing racetrack and then complain and sue until they get it closed down. It has happened scores of times in this country. Here in Missouri Wentzville raceway was closed this way. Just for nostalgia I drove there one day, and the track is now covered with subdivisions.

FWIW the two housing devlopements close to Bandimere had to sign a waiver when buying property there that they would not try to sue or complain about noise or traffic from events held there. There is more going on there than has been discussed. The daughters do not seem to have a ton of interst in keeping it going. One of them has married a very well known bracket racer and moved to Texas and is expecting her first child soon. Been told her parents are moving to Texas as well to be with them. The other seems to have little interest in it. They say they will look for a place in their announcement but time will tell.

Same thing happens to small airports all the time
Dang them lying developers
They buy, develop , sell and move on
The home owners hire lawyers or form an H.O.A. and raise heck until they get their way
That ain't progress in my mind

I've been doing the Coy's swap meet there for probably about 30 years now and I guess in 3 weeks will the last one, ever. I'm quite sad about this.

I flew out of Stapleton international in Denver for years. They dozed it and put in the new airport. Folks then decided to build homes out there, what kind of moron would do that?? I’ll bet money bandimere is done and there will be no new track. I lived, worked, and went to school in Denver for years. It is a congested nightmare now. Sad, Bandimere probably the nicest track I’ve ever driven on.

I would think the highway between Bandimere and the housing across the way would also be loud as hell to live next to. I dont understand the demand for these housing tracts that are built on top of highways and other existing infrastructure. I have my 20 acres i can hide on........
