The original max wedge intake doesn't use a valley cover, the intake manifold does that. As far as trying to use a set of 240 heads that will make a lot of reversion with a stock M.W. intake due to the M.W. heads intake ports are taller and flow more air than the standard 361 up to the stock 440 heads, it will cause flow reversion at the head surfaces, not GOOD I've never bought or used a set of the 270 heads yet. If they have the same size intake ports as the original M.W. heads had the stock intake should work okay I've owned and race a bunch of cars with max wedge motors and love them There are better parts available now so if you want more power than those early M.W. motors made buy newer better parts like Indy 440-1 heads and a custom sheet metal cross ram intake IHTHs

Since the A&A manifold uses standard ports I really don't think there will be any issues with the 240's . They are designed to use all the stock components and manifolds. Gus

Thanks everyone for the responses. My brother started this post for me, its been a few years since I've been active here. I have the 440 port size max wedge intake manifold from A&A. I could open up the crossram to full max wedge size. I was going to use Edelbrock RPM heads, but have considered using Trick Flow's instead.
I'm more concerned if the max wedge intake manifold (440 port or max wedge port) will even bolt up to the 240 or 270 Trick Flow heads. Curious if anyone has actually matched up the parts on an engine build.
The Trick Flow 240 has this valve cover rail that protrudes out from the intake port side of the head. I'm concerned about this interfering with the max wedge intake manifold. See attached photo. Top photo is the Trick Flow 240. Second photo with the flat intake port is the Trick Flow 270.

they bolt right up but because the have a raised intake port you have to use a valley plate. The china wall has way to much of a gap to just seal. Jake

I am still wondering if anyone has ever successfully used the Trick Flow 240 heads combined with an original max wedge intake (440 port size)? I have the same intake bolted on a motor with edelbrock heads. Should be same deal with 240 heads. Both standard port. You should have no problem at all. I haven’t called A&A to confirm but I was under the impression it’s the same casting for both standard port and max wedge port. I assumed it was like the Indy modman, they only cnc the port opening to max wedge size, extra $100. But I’m not sure and you know what happens when you assume.
