I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I did not see it.

Looking at the fantastic RTS 'Cuda I see the sequence number is 100005. I also see the E in the VIN indicating it is a product of the LA Plant.

I was wondering if there was a 100005 E-Body out of Hamtramck as well? And for that matter, are all the sequence numbers duplicated across plants despite the fact that they are producing the same model car?

Thanks!

Every plant started at 100001 for assigned VINs, so repeats of the last 6 happened - Over and over again......

The limiting factor is on the high end. Since Hamtramck had two lines in production, their assigned VIN sequences went much higher than other plants.

Yes, it is a 318 powered convertible.

Interesting. Thank you Barry,

With all the engine and body choices out there it is probably very rare to come up with an almost exact match VIN with only the plant being different but I'm sure it happened.

Do you have one recorded?

Such as:

JH23G0E123456 and JH23G0B123456

It is not something I actively look for.

I did notice a pair earlier this month, both 1970 Challenger R/Ts.

They even had the same transmission, paint, vinyl top & interior, just different stripes. (I did not look at options beyond that)

I wonder which one is real and which one is the clone?
I was told by a California Highway Patrolman in 1969 that all the 1969 Dodge brand cars had the VIN #, sequence # , stamp in 19 different locations. shruggy
I wonder if the 1970 Dodge models had them stamp in that many places also? work

I have heard that story about multiple VIN's/SO #'s for decades. Yet other than the common locations that every one knows, I have never read, or heard, a bit of proof that any more exist. Don't mean to sidetrack this post. shruggy
