I wonder what the rest of the story is? Why it is out in the public now? I love it!!!! But I'm partial to the old customs.

The 70 version looks better than the 71 IMO. I know it could never be changed back, but what about a clone?

Well, it'll cross the auction block at Mecum - Indy.
My guess is the owner didn't need the money when Steve Juliano wanted it, or didn't like his offer; but years later, it's time to let it go.

The video on e-bodies.org is so much better and interesting than the one here.

I appreciate the video here and it is fine, but it is just a sanitized look at an object.

The video on e-bodies.org is gritty and is in the moment. I think it is excellently done because it makes you feel as if you are at the moment of discovery. I think it is a WOW video.

From someone close to me that I know that was on the trail of this Cuda for the past year, the owner of it acquired it in 1976 - not sure if he bought it from Chuck Miller, or if someone else had it. Anyway, this guy is very old now & had to move to an assisted living facility, & his home & belongings were being liquidated by some estate management company. The company had NO idea what this car was, or what it was worth, & several guys who had been pursuing it for years were trying to acquire it before it vanished - they wanted to get it out of his garage before something stupid happened to it! There was also a problem trying to locate the title. Someone did finally legally buy the car from the old man or the estate management, & now that owner is going to run it through the auction next month in Indy. I'm predicting it will bring over a million. As far as I know, the Sonic Cuda has still not been found. This RTS Cuda (to me) is a SPECTACULAR car!

I assume the 70 GTX was lost? I read that the duster was auctioned off at a Chrysler surplus auction in 75 or 76, I guess the others were sold the same way?

Its a shame that Steve was never able to get all 4 cars back together before he passed. I know the owner is free to do what he wants, but if the story told is true, he was a typical tool.......

Not really, seems he just didnt like him. Ive been on test drives and been so turned off by the potential buyer that there was nothing they could say to get my car. You probably have to

There seems to be a thing out there in Internetland where people feel free to pass judgment on how owners handle their personal belongings and property. Been seeing it with the Black Ghost, and this is no different. Sorry, but "I know the owner is free to do what he wants" doesn't count as a disclaimer. Peeps need to MYOB and let people live their lives as they see fit.

It just reminded me as one of those 'Imma gonna fix it up one day' moments. I don't have any idea what transpired or what either individual was like. From my vantage point, if not sell it out right to Steve, why not loan/rent it to him when showing the other cars? Just seems like something could have been worked out instead of keeping it squirreled away.

Good night...................

Did that owner really "enjoy" owning that car for all those years?
I guess he could have; but seems to be a very reclusive/elusive enjoyment.
So sad: but I guess he "Did It My Way".

That is the first I have seen or heard of those cars.
I think I know exactly where that picture was taken in the Mojave Desert boogie

I think Steve shot himself in the foot when he did the magazine article bragging about how he stole the other three cars for chump change. He stated aloud,"I would have paid ten times what I paid for the 70 RTS Road Runner"..

Steve told us when he went to get the 70 RTS roadrunner that when Steve asked how much he wanted for it the guy told Steve he couldn't afford it and told Steve 10,000.So Steve went out his car took out 10,000 dollars out of 100,000 gave it to him and bought the car.Sounds more like the got cocky and Steve gave him what he wanted, but was ready to give him 100,000.I bought a 69 roadrunner out of a junkyard in philadelphia years ago,we got it running in the junkyard a friend said go pay the guy before anyone jumps on it I did.I double checked the price 535 dollars out of nervousness,he said NO!I told you 575 I said no problem I had extra cash on me,paid the guy then his phone started ringing off the hook with higher offers he told me you probably want to give me more money I told him no then flatbedded it home. drive

"Ive been on test drives and been so turned off by the potential buyer that there was nothing they could say to get my car. You probably have to"

that is exactly the reason i still have my charger today.
[many, many] years ago, a buyer showed up with the bux i was asking, and it went exactly as the above............
the car has stayed with me since 1970, and i guess i'll have to figure out what happens to it in my will. [if i ever get around to writing one..... panic biggrin]

This was told to me by the buyer who bought the car from the old man's estate. The neighbor of the old man told his friend the buyer that there was a Cuda in his neighbor's garage. He came out to look at the car and bought it on site knowing what the car was, for a low price. He in turn found some interested buyers, and ended up selling it to the Brothers Collection in Oregon, knowing it would be perserved for history. The buyer did show me pictures of the day he found it in the old man's garage. All this was told to me in June of 2022 at the Eyes on Design show in Grosse Pointe at the Ford Mansion that I was invited to show my Hemi Dart. The car was found in Sterling Heights Michigan about 2 1/2 miles from where I grew up. Nobody spoke of the car back in the day.

So Brothers are putting it up for Auction with Mecum?
