' The first completed car in the new National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Factory X class, Geoff Turk’s Blackbird X Challenger, has crashed in testing at Beech Bend Raceway in Kentucky. In Turk’s own words, “I’m a bit beat up and slightly limping, but mostly okay.”
The new Factory X class, designed to bridge the gap between the NHRA’s current Factory Stock Showdown class and the Pro Stock class, has generated a lot of interest.
That interest included Geoff Turk, who contracted B & B Race Cars to put the bigger, better and faster version of the original Blackbird Challenger together, the first Factory Stock Showdown car to clock a 7-second pass in competition.' www.sickthemagazine.com/news/one-da...-challenger-completed-crashes-in-testing

Question: Who do I see about buying one of those "Factory Stock Showdown cars"? Answer: you can't, they entirely hand made.
So, they're "NOT Factory Stock Showdown cars". The purpose is to convince children with too much money to buy something that will make them famous.

I think the "factory" in the name has to do with the fact that the bodies have to fit factory dimensions, nothing to do with being available from the factory. I'd like to see them replace the current Pro Stock class.

The FSS car is bought complete from the parts counter at the dealer - it comes turn key ready to run - to be competitive add another 100K of engine work and refinement of the chassis - Mustang, COPO or Mopar Drag Pak they all come from the manufacture with a part number - no title. The last of the Mopar's is the 2021 which I believe is sold out - but you can still buy a complete rolling chassis for 90K over the parts counter. The FSS/AFX car is hand built by the individual - but must use the FSS engine program per model - The AFX is about 1000 lbs lighter and runs a Manual Jericho transmission its a full chassis car.

So, it's "stock"... except for the modifications.

So, it's "stock"... except for the modifications. About as stock as a pro stock car? Are these like the body in white cars from years past? Just asking.

Its a class that is to replace pro stock, the cars are basically what AJ asked for years ago right before Mopar left Pro stock. Only difference is these use new engines, he said keep the 500 NA stuff. They said no and Mopar left the chat...
FSS is modern super stock

I believe they run Liberty's. [/quote] Correct. They run Liberty Equalizer Clutchless 5 speeds. There isn't a Jerico built that would take that abuse.

31 x 10.5W I believe - FSS is a 30 x 9.0 Spec tire is 10.5W x 33 with a 16' wheel diameter. These are obviously not stock. The are F/X class. Tube chassis, carbon body (except 1/4s and roof), 5 speed manual, max 3 disc cluttch. They have to follow factory body shape. I saw this car at PRI this winter. Doug
