I have been looking for a 6.4 Hemi engine for a rebuildable core. Shopping salvage sites it seems there is a fair amount of these truck engines that have had engine fires. When shopping for a 6.4 from a car the burnt cores are far less. Just curious if there was an issue?

I don't know how to feel about buying a burnt engine core.

Where did you hear the 6.4 was fire prone? Thats news to me. As far as a core it would be ok if it is cheap.

I didn't hear there was a problem, I just noticed a lot of burned cores for truck motors vs the car motors.

Years ago I saw the local yard had a Magnum core for $150 so went there to look at, it was a burned complete engine with the TB melted and all outside burnt. Got it home and found it to be very low mile excellent engine inside. Burned means injector lines burst and caught fire. These ARE the best finds.

2021–2023 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups and chassis-cab trucks with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine have a grid heater relay recall can catch fire running or not. And no fix at this time was told to leave outside garage in case it catches fire.........

Wonder if the 68RFE recall applies to the gas engine trucks too? Thought it was just the diesel.

Diesel only gas engines don't have grid heater relays.

I was referring about the recall concerning the trans puking fluid out of the dipstick tube which can cause fire. Like I said I know there are diesel trucks involved, just not sure if the 6.4 trucks are too.
