Gents,

I am getting ready to pull out my worn and tired 440 in my 72 Duster for a newly built motor. I am currently running 1 3/4 TTI headers with the factory power steering mounted to a Spool type K-Frame. I would note that I feel this set up mounts the engine a little higher than my previous set up which utilized the biscuit style mounts. I very much want to run TTI 2" headers as this engine dynos 547hp and the 1 3/4 headers are likely gonna be restrictive. I know fully that the 2" headers will not work with the factory PS box but I have not found much information whether or not they headers will clear the more compact Borgenson box. I do not expect any header to be a drop in procedure but I dont want to hammer a tube to 50% of its size to make it work either.

Has anyone had success with mounting 2 in TTI headers with the Borgenson box in an A body without cutting and relocating tubes?

Thank yo5

I'd suggest asking TTi to see what they say. I'd also suggest staying with the 1 3/4 headers unless you really need to get every last bit of power out of the engine. I tried bigger headers in my Duster and they were basically impossible to install so I went back to the 1 3/4.

The prior owner of a Duster I used to have with an RB installed had TTIs.
I'm not certain but I think they were 2" primaries.
He had to ding them pretty hard to clear the steering arms, and it would still make contact at full lock.
They also ran almost against the left side of the trans pan.

Smaller tubes should fit better, unless you need max upper-RPM power.

i know a-bodies with rb blocks and borgensen is a poor fit. from what i've seen i wouldn't do borgensen. the steering gear is moved too far up the column.

i was accused of "OCD" in another thread about oil fill caps not being in line with MP finned valve covers [laugh2] and more than likely i will be accused of this because of my dislike of seeing headers smashed all to crap. biggrin
