Heard about that.
Was wondering if it works with the factory gauge cluster.

I am sure this is perfectly safe BUT I am still not sure I can wrap my head around having laser beams bouncing around inside my fuel tank.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

It would be nice to see some instructions of some kind.

I found the setup document. It's pretty limited use, foam baffled fuel cells are a no go, and I suspect vertical installs are too. Did you mean "Horizontal?" the instructions posted show a vertical install I would also wonder about tanks like most of the Mopars that are mounted at the top front, but angled downwards? The issue I see on top mounted senders is floor clearance> Next would be making an adapter for OEM style tanks. That likely add to the height issue
