chrisf OP master C Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 5,908 British Columbia	i have a 06 300. its a 5.7 heritage so a bit better than just a stock "C" i would like to keep the car so thinking of rebuilding and adding some useable power. thinking maybe a 392 stroker. question. i have access to a 16 5.7 truck engine that is super low mile (10k-ish) would that be a better start? i would think tone ring is an issue but anything else?. (buy the 32 tone ring crank?) is that a good swap or stick with the earlier engine? nothing stupid for power 475-ish

I'd expect to just use the long block and retain everything that is specific to my model year like the intake and throttle body, exhaust manifolds, maybe the front accessory drive and such. I just don't know if my intake matches up with the ports of the newer heads.

wheelsup68dart master Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 4,628 Columbus, Ohio	Front cover from your 06 will not work on later model as it does not have the clearance for the cam sprocket and yours has an EGR valve and later model does not have head drilled for bolt on EGR as well as your intake will not bolt to it due to different intake ports. There may be an eagle intake available ow that has ability to run an EGR tube into it and you can drill head for EGR so it may be doable I’m just unsure about intake
