McFlurry broken was only a matter of time. Naming it after something you get from the McDonalds ice cream machine is bound to break. LOL.New builds,no testing as its the first Drag and drive event of the year could play into the carnage this year. Roughly the same percentage as Dragweek 2007. Broken ring and pinions, U joints issues is something that usually never happens but has in the last year at drag and drive events. Quality of materials must not be up to par. Or everyone is pushing their stuff harder than ever? Lots of guys deep into the 6's this year with heavy cars! Cleetus admitted to 10 lbs. more boost and 800 hp more than what his engine builder recommended.

Track prep while it has gone away over the days is likely better at sick week than any other drag and drive. Not to mention the DA of Florida this time of year making extra power.
I know Tom had them scrape and prep Gainesville the day before sick week.
Looks like Mcflurry made around 1000HP to run the ET it did at 3000lbs. That is a factory stock FORD short block soooo..........thats pretty good lol.

Definitely curious to see what broke on McFlurry- did it pinch a ring and finally hurt a piston on the drive, or did a rod bolt come apart?
Have been watching the live feed all week, that beautiful green Duster just got into tire shake and spit its driveshaft, yoke, and some other pieces across into the other lane!

I read on Facebook it was a steel driveshaft. If so, a car that fast shouldn’t be running a shaft made of steel.

Guessing it pinched a ring and cracked a piston under power and finally finished off the the carnage later on the road.

As somebody who has personally spit out a driveshaft or three and is used to identifying the carnage, it was definitely steel. Lol The announcer tried to say it was carbon fiber, but it twisted like a pretzel and was shot out from under the car. Every broken carbon fiber driveshaft I've seen just disintegrates.

Reading a driveshaft article from DYNOTECH, they say a steel driveshaft can handle 1500-1800 horsepower, above that, chrome moly. Carbon fiber up to 3000 pounds.

I've seen a bunch of OEM aluminum shafts that are filled with cardboard or foam. They make a mess too! Also, did I hear right that Steve Morris's wagon was still running 1350 u-joints? If that's accurate I'm pretty surprised, I would've thought pro mod style stuff was up at least 1-2 sizes from that.

I had to google- looks like Mark Williams and some others suggest/offer 1480 for higher power pro mods. Steve’s car definitely fits that due to the power and the weight. Steve mentioned 1480’s in his interview too.
