I also like how the bed floor can extend. 3 row seats? Why not if they can get it to work? Who likes minivans anyways?

Ram will kick the competition's buttt if they make it a hybrid which can give it MUCH-NEEDED range over Phord, Rivian, and GMC.

GM did a pass-through deal on trucks (half PU, half SUV) many years back.
As I recall, they had issues, not the least of which was leaking.
I haven't seen one around in years, yet every other PU and SUV ever made is all over my area.

When it comes to electronics, modules & such in vehicles from the '90s are already trouble-prone, even though they seem much simpler systems.
(Granted, that's 30 years, but everything electrical on my 50-year-old cars continues to work fine.)
Complexity is a problem.

When in reverse, the camera stitches together images from various other cameras around the truck, providing the driver with a 360-degree view on the interior digital screens. This allows the driver to see their surroundings with greater clarity, helping to avoid accidents and improve safety, especially when backing up to a trailer. The mirror also includes a supplementary backup flood lamp that provides additional visibility when reversing the truck, which is especially useful in low light conditions. In addition to the backup camera, the rearview mirror also communicates with biometric cameras that observe the truck’s environment as it approaches objects and as it’s being approached.

Geez; just what Joe-Public needs: a rear view mirror (i.e. digital monitor) with multiple pictures within pictures.
Guess it's a rear problem to just turn your head around and look!

Yeah but its useless when used as a truck. Hook up a trailer and the range plummets so bad it'll barely make it to the next charging station

Maybe but there is hundreds and thousands of pickup truck owners that never pull a trailer, or carry anything for that matter.

Yes and it'll probably be fine but they also take a serious range hit in cold temps too. A lot of people are buying them and not knowing all the faults they have, to this day a lot of EV buyers replace them with gassers. Lets not forget the largest elephant in the room - charging up in some sketchy area at night time

They for sure aren't for everyone, myself included. But I can see a market for electric pickup trucks and delivery vehicles. We have 5 delivery vehicles at my work that run every day. 3 of them could easily be electric. They return to the same spot every night, they run on average less than 200 miles a day usually way less, and when they carry a heavy load it is for short distances. Taking maintenance down to tires and electric cords would save us a lot of money. There is thousands of fleets like this that could go EV and have it make sense. Leaving more gas for the rest of us!

The LG batteries in GM EVs have already proven defective.

The big $ battery plants Ford is building along I-65 in KY and TN will be a huge bet to use an unproven South Korean technology.

Tesla has had relatively good on road longevity with the Panasonic (actually Sanyo) Li batteries
but is now switching to a case size that creates smaller but denser cells.

What Li cells will Still-Aint-US use in the Ram pickup?

(Do not rule out that something other than Li will pop up and prove to be the best battery)

And don't forget that most of the batteries have a life span of 15 years! I wonder what the dealers/used car dealers are going to do about a vehicle that is just about time to have the battery replaced. They surly are not going to spend the $ to put a new battery in it. And trade in prices will surely be affected by it. I still want to know when is somebody going to make a EV that has looks. Look what they did with the Mustang. puke No excuse to make them all uglier than the gas counterparts. realcrazy They should be getting them to look better so someone might want to drive one.

Ford is selling all the EV pickups they can make.

Could one replace my Cummins D3500, no, could one replace my Magnum, yes.

Remember back in the late 70s early 80s when GM took 350s and put diesel heads on them b/c gas was $$$ and diesel was $. I was a mechanic's helper and those engines where nothing but problems- blew head gaskets; leaked; no credible auto mechanics to repair them except at big rig diesel shops; needed specialty tools. The shop I worked at was swapping those diesels for gas 350s. Don't stand behind them on first fire-up. Lotsa diesel soot came out. Wonder how long it'll be before those electric motors are ripped out and replaced with gas. Don't know if it'll be legal in all 50 states or the pitfalls to doing the swap, but I find it an interesting notion. Some gearhead will figure it out.

I am not rich...but I get off my ass everyday to make sure I am not broke!

Can we get the Mexican cartels to help us with our supply chain issues? They don't seem to have any trouble getting stuff from one place to another.

toyota is someone to listen to.
there is a reason they hold their value higher than comparable year other companies. even when they are super high mile, rusty junkers, you don't get them for nothing.
it was that way 50 years ago in my auction and junkyard ownership days, and it's the same today as it was then.

I was on an 1979 engineering school fundraising committee with Gary Dowell, then chief engineer at General Motors.
He, as an “old hand” assured me as a young whippersnapper many times those diesel 350 V8s were going to be great.

When the cylinder heads on our fleet of EMD GP-38 diesel engines were all cracking he also assured me there was no way it was a factory defect.
