Besides the fact that they don't recline like the pass side one would on a ramcharger, are the seat pedestals from a dodge van the same as what would have been in a ramcharger?
Thinking of switching to buckets in an 85 d150.

The floor pans on a "B" van are flat from the firewall to the back doors, but the floor pan under the seat area a D150, is raised up to clear the front of the gas tank. I doubt the "B" van seat pedestals will work at all in the D150. Bucket seats out of a Dakota stand a better chance, but those seat brackets will probably need to be modified, and those seats may be a bit narrow for the full size truck.

The bucket seat Little Reds and other Dodge trucks with buckets (with a buddy seat or a consul between the seats) have the low back buckets (backrest no higher then the bench seat backrest) mounted on a tube frame work that actually bolts in the cab at the same locations as the bench seats. There also be questions about the high back "B" van buckets backrest may lean back too far causing an issue between the driver and steering wheel, and clearing the rear window clearance.

I wish I could get a ram charger and a van bucket seat alongside each other to compare

I used Carravan seats in my Ram Van, had to work on the stands to lower them 2” (sectioned them) now reclining, with arm rests and very comfortable. Millions in the yards

Unless you have the van ones already, why not go with the Ramcharger bases? I agree with poorboy regarding the differences in the floor.

The hinge setup on the passenger seat base is simple enough. Even in a regular cab, I could see where it could be helpful to gain access behind the seats (speakers, tools, whatever).

When I had my '76 Club Cab I used RC bases to install bucket seats. I forget the brand import the seats came out of, but I called them 'recarro wannabes' as they were super comfortable and had a multiple adjustments.

The only mods to the truck itself I had to make was to reinforce the floor for the RC base mounts.

Iirc the van and pickup high back seats are the same. It is the bases that changed to accommodate the floors.

I've heard rumors that Caravan seats also fit the bases but only the first generation ones.

The best seats are the 90-93 buckets. I have a set of those. I also have a set of 91 van seats.
I put Rancharger seats in my 78 D100. They made 2 different Ramcharger bases. Short and tall ones. I used the tall ones. I had 2 sets so I made it so both seats tilt forward and slide adjust. I had these in my CC for years and is the reason I did that but I put them in my 78 standard cab this year. I can't slide them all the way back because they hit the rear window. Not a problem with all the floor room.
I'll look at my van seats but I think they would work just fine in a truck.

I don't have any ramcharger bases. The only ones around are the ones in my son's RC which he very much still drives.
There's a RC in a local yard that still has it's console but the seats and bases are long gone.

I'm not looking right now but I thought my floor pan in my truck (reg cab) was pretty flat? Have to look later when I get out to the garage

And I'm going on 20+ yr old memories....... (so, I hope I'm not confusing matters here).

Moparmarks, two different seat bases? Was it dependent on year or seat style?

Year I think. The low back seat had the short base and the high backs had the tall ones, I think. It's been awhile.

The high back seats in my '89 Caravan were identical to the ones in my '88 Ramcharger. I wish I'd kept some of the better ones from the many Gen1 Caravans we had through the years... I have 2 sets of the seats, and at least 1 set of bases if you're desperate.

No not desperate yet anyways.
So caravan seat bases are taller than b van ones? I take that to be the case if the poster above said they had to be cut down...
I was thinking if I had to settle for caravan seats to get the ones out of ~91-95-ish series.
Just spit balling on the idea of switching to buckets at the moment.
Rhinodart had a nice looking set of what I thought were ram charger seats the last couple of times I was up by his (former?) Place, only problem with using those in my truck is they were green/ which doesn't match maroon very well. So I passed on them but they were in nice shape.
I used to have a really nice set of tan seats and pedestals out of an 86-ish caravan, but had no use for them "back then" / so away they went.

just a word of caution. If you use the Ramcharger flip up seat brackets and the high back buckets, you will want to be sure the seat backs clear the windshield.

I don't know what the guy had for a set up, but he had high back bucket seats with a full seat flip up on his truck. I watched him open his passenger side door, and flip the seat up fast, the seat back came back at him just as fast as it went forward, after it bounced off the windshield. My luck would have cracked the windshield, it hit the windshield hard and bounced back hard. Like I said, don't know what his set up was, but it was a vision I won't forget.

I have 2000 something Chrysler minivan 2nd row bucket seats in my 49. The ones I'm using are the low back to clear the rear window. They come with headrests and arm rests attached to the seats. The back rests on both seats fold forward onto the top of the seat bottom. I removed the head rests, and then the arm rests after I built my own consul with 2 cup holders, a storage box, and a catch all tray that will hold my phone. I made the seat brackets with adjusters that match up to the bucket seat mounting points on the Dakota floor pan in the 49.

Pics 1 & 2 are the seats bolted in place with the arm rests still attached. pic 3 & 4 are with the arm rests removed and the consul I made. The space under the consul lid at the rear is where a tall 8 pack cooler fits. The cooler sits flat on the floor there. The storage bos is about 6" wide, 6" long, and 5" deep. Under the box is an open storage space accessible from in front of the seats. You can't see that area from outside of the truck. There is also 3 1/2" high, 11" wide, 18" long storage under the seats. My wife rides along, storage is important to her... shruggy

I wasn't thinking ram charger seats cuz I wasn't worried about being able to flip them up
I do like the thought of the built in drawers that the caravan seats had

I didn’t cut the Caravan seats, I sectioned the van base 2”” shorter, now I look out the windshield and my head isn’t in the headliner. Dodge raised the seats because the airbag going off would hit in the face and break necks, they want the bag to hit your chest. In my RC I put adjusters on the passenger seat, made it sit very nice and not up in the dash.

I figured it was the base that you cut down, not the seats.
If I were to do this, I would go get that console from the junkyard ram charger, want something that would line up decently height wise with that.

I’ll measure the seat height on mine, stock one too. I have a 94 van and those seats are lower than the 01 (air bags like I said before). Caravan bases are flat on bottom, shorter and narrower than the 01 bases, the reason for cutting the stock 01 base
